Boys Toys Day 2019 - Let’s Go Racing - 31st August!

boys_toys2019_123_zps1lwakes6.jpg

Hi Everyone,

The plan has always been to run our Boys Toys Day every other year but I always seem to buy a new car and then I just get the urge to organise another BTD, yep it's another Lotus, I really should stop looking on Pistonheads at all the temptations really, so as ever if you have an interesting car of any kind please feel free to come along, it’s just a good excuse to get your car out for a blast really and to mingle with fellow petrolheads.

For this year’s event we are going to do something I have fancied doing for a couple of years now, basically we have hired Rye House Go Kart track for the afternoon and hopefully we can fill up the 26 car grid with HiFi Lounge customers and we can all go racing, what could possibly go wrong.

The Timetable

So the plan for the day, well there are several ways people can come along really to enjoy the day, please see below -

As ever everyone is welcome to come to HiFi Lounge for 9am onwards where we will park everyone’s cars out the front of the shop and have a BBQ breakfast of bacon and sausage rolls with tea or coffee, we will have all the demo rooms running blasting out some tunes, we’ve done this a few times now and we always get a great turnout, you don’t have to have a sports car or supercar, just anything that is interesting and your pride and joy, all petrolhead welcome, it is just an excuse for a drive, then we will head over to Rye House for the afternoons racing action, a nice drone shot from our BTD 2017 below, thanks @Bibs 👍

Let’s go racing

Rye House is a brilliant outdoor Go Kart track based at Hoddesdon, Herts, in my opinion it is one of the best in the country, this is where Lewis Hamilton spent a lot of his time racing and practicing when he was much younger, I have raced here many years ago in the past so really looking forward to re-visiting this old haunt as it looks like it has had a lot of redevelopment lately, please see below for a video the BBC did with Lewis at Rye.

Cost

The Go Karting is going to cost £85 per head, places are limited to 26 cars in total so if you do want to join us please let me know asap to avoid any disappointment.

If you are attending the Go Karting you can either come to HFL first or meet us at Rye House or if you’d like to spectate please feel free to come over to watch the chaos.

The track action starts at 2pm with a briefing from 1pm so we will look to leave HiFi Lounge around midday for the 45 Minute drive to Rye House so it will be cool to go over in convoy.

Please find more about Rye House on their website below -

www.rye-house.co.uk

Format

So the format for the day is briefing at 1pm, a 15 minute qualifying session at 2pm and a 45 minute race after that so it is a decent length race which will really get your arms aching towards the end as there are a couple of fast corners, then there will be trophy presentations afterwards.

Rye house supply helmets and race suits but obviously if you have your own you can use those.

RSVP

So that is it really, a day of cars and racing, what’s not to like, should be good fun, if you do fancy joining us on track please let me know on the below e-mail address, I will need payment of the £85 beforehand as I can see this getting a lot of interest so to guarantee a place payment via Bank transfer would be appreciated but we can take card also.

All we need now is for the weather to realise it is actually summer and let’s all hope it is a hot and sunny day, so to sum up please feel free to come over to HFL for just the morning car meet or feel free to join us on track at Rye or just come over to spectate if you like.

Really can’t wait for this Boys Toys Day myself, just hope I don’t get beaten on track too badly.

Hope that all makes sense but any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Many thanks

Regards,

Paul.
