  1. The rounded Lotus badge floor mates are no more available. They looked great, but not really durable... Poor quality rounded badge material and stitching.

They were fitted in early MY12 Evora's. I know one with these floor mates, 11/11.

Mine didn't have mats, but I'd asked JCT to supply them as part of the sale, the ones they fitted are the ones with 'Evora' on them, this was in Feb this year.

I asked JCT if they had some carpet adhesive too as the carpet behind the pedals fell down a couple of times. They said it was a known issue and a new piece of carpet was fitted which goes much higher and has better fixings.

Ive had great customer service with the Evora, only minor niggles but all rectified - along with things I'd not even noticed.

I just hope the next car Lotus launch has had more of these issues sorted before its released for sale!

  2. ^^^the numbers of Elise/Exige who have moved (like me) or plan to move into an Evora is growing quickly.

Part of the issue is people talking about Lotus having a history for building cheap sports cars. This is not true, my S1 Elise 111S was £31k with the extras 12 years ago, that wasn't cheap and the Esprit was more expensive than Ferraris on sale atbthe same time etc etc.

  3. I'm 26 and recently quit drinking for good for many reasons but reading about this was one of them - thanks mate, the decision to stop may well prevent me from ending up in that doctors chair later.

But of course in moderation it prevents other diseases

    Good luck Kimbers.

Very sorry to hear about your friend.

  4. I really like the side on look of the Exige S, the longer lines help it. Not sure of the rear view yet, sometimes I like it sometimes I dont - strange.

I like the idea of getting an Exige S and making it into the roadster.

Does anyone know what real life fuel economy is like with them. If its as low as the Evora S I'll stick to the NA Evora. I guess the road tax is as expensive?

  5. So how the does quality compare between the Aston and the Evora? I'd imagine the Aston's screwed together pretty well, be interesting to know how the Evora feels in comparison.

Astons I tried seemed very well built, better than the Evora.

That said I do know two people who've successfully rejected brand new Astons because of quality issues.

As a daily driver I think the V8V would be great, they just didn't feel special enough for a fun weekend toy

  6. People seem to forget Lotus past. When the Esprit was launched it cost more than any Ferrari at the time, the Elite was very expensive too and my S1 Elise at over £30k 12 years ago was hardly cheap.

They'll always be badge snobbery but the Esprit will sell if they do it well from the start ( not a half finished launch mode like the Evora was).

  7. I've enjoyed your reports BIbs. I couldn't decide between the S or NA (my wife found it an easy decision). I didn't feel that much difference in them for the type of driving I'm doing. I've not driven a MY12 car but they feel better just when you sit in them. Your reports would probably make me try the IPS next time.

I look forward to them loaning you a cabriolet to write up about soon!

  8. Who told you that Martin please, do you remember their name?

I didn't but my wife said he was called Coco! As I've already said he said nothing had been designed but rough drawings were done. He was very sceptical it would happen.

As I'm sure you found out the guys upstairs on the stand were VERY candid and between them told us everything that has since been announced. I was at the Frankfurt show and at Paris when DBs ideas were made public. I asked what they would have at Paris as I might be going (I travel all over with work and sometimes manage to work flights out some can enjoy shows etc) and was told I'd 'see nothing I'd not seen before from Lotus - nothing at all - if that's what you're going for it might not be worth going'!

It was this candour that I really liked at Goodwood, the senior guys believed what that were saying and I sensed enthusiasm - which I didn't before.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong about the Evora cabriolet!! It could be awesome and we'd order one without a doubt.

  9. I spoke to several people from Lotus and one from DRB-Hicom. Lotus is NOT for sale! Is my house for sale? No! But if someone came along and offered way over the top for it then it would be sold. As would Lotus.

Let's let DRB get on with running Lotus. I'm pretty happy it's in good hands and don't think they're in it for the very short term. They may sell it one day but not for the next 2-3 years me thinks.

But there won't be an Evora soft top!
