  1. Back on track in Guildford have quite a bit of experience on them. I use them for mine, for reasons other than price. Not sure I agree it will affect the resale price significantly, but I don't plan on selling anyway.

If B&C charging under £400 for a service they must have revised pricing. They were quoting me circa £460 , £650 & £850 for the constituent parts of the service schedule (inc the playground discount).

Yep, they quoted me £460 but lowered it to around £400 on the phone. The JCT price was £440 before haggling I think.

  2. Out of interest how much odd you pay for the three year service?

I paid £380 including VAT at JCT Leeds and was quoted a virtually identical price at Bell & Colvill. This was last month, £500 extra seems quite a lot more.

  3. Which Elise are you looking at Conner? The S1 soft-top is perhaps 4-5 mins to fit

I used to fit my S1 soft top in just over a minute. I had a little mark on it where to centre it to stop leaks, I've never understood how you could take 5 mins to fit it.

  4. I just took it for a drive and when in neutral and engine is free revving, hitting the brake does not stop it, only after two to three seconds does it drop to idle.

Why are you in neutral and revving?

I read this thread several times and can't work out what people are doing. Are they allowing the car to coast in neutral? If so this has used more fuel than leaving it in gear with no revs for years, and notwithstanding fuel use it's something that would cause you to fail the driving test.

  5. Very different but similar cars. I agree the Exige seems to give more instant responses to the right peddle, it makes you want to do it too. The Evora is more relaxed, better as a GT car while still being great handling etc. I nearly swapped to an Exige S earlier this year but I'm sure my wife would enjoy it and use it like she does the Evora.

One great thing about the Exige is the driving position which IMHO is better than the Evora with the offset peddles.

  6. The margins on new cars is shockingly small, I worked for two brothers while at college who had several dealerships and a second hand car lot where he sold the older trade ins. He always said the little car lot made far more profit than the others put together, admittedly it was partly because it cost nothing to run. The last few years before they retired they sold everything except the car lot.

  7. Had a bit of a scare this morning. Got up, took my dogs on an hours walk, came home, then while my wife was preparing breakfast I had a TIA (mini-stroke). I couldn't speak, very alarming the noises of the words were in my head but in the wrong order and all my wife could hear was mumbling. I recovered within five minutes but obviously went to hospital. I'm home but have to see the stroke specialists and can't drive for a month!

My wife has offered to bring me down to MBW on Sunday but although I feel fine now I may not feel like it on a Sunday. I've posted on the thread and Concorde thread as I'd hate to cancel late and my place be wasted.

    Have a great day everyone!
