  1. I'd bet a lot of money it is because I recognise that lip on the Eurostar! (did the very same thing last October on my way to Spa!)

F-ing furious with myself... The upper deck is too tight for an Evora, lower deck with the trucks and supercars is my recommendation ;-)

I've always asked to go on the truck decks.

  3. I used to be a operating theatre manager. Once on a night out one of the nurses off one of the wards came up to me and proceeded to kiss me passionately. She then said in earshot of all my staff "Haven't you got softlips for a theatre manager". So then all my staff called me Softlips. I thought I'd lost the name when I entered medical sales until someone shouted it across reception at the Royal College of Surgeons. So it started again and loads of people call me it.

The girl who kissed me went on somewhere else's after kissing me and another nurse saw I'd not really objected so she did the same - I'm now married to her!

  4. Wavefront laser PRK (on the outside of the cornea, no flap) is what I had.  No problems with night driving, the scarring from the infection on the right has gone, and I don't get any effects from that with my night vision any more.  I would say my night vision is excellent.

I don't ever squint anymore, no eyestrain playing video games or using the pc all day.  No headaches.  No dry eyes, though sometimes when I wake up they are stuck together, but that is probably more from sleeping with a fan on...

The Doctors that I went with continue to look after you for years after the surgery, and I think that is an important factor in deciding who to go with!  In the beginning there were many follow up appointments to make sure everything was going well (no charge) and now even years later I go in for 6 month checkups (no charge).  The doctor who I see is a car guy and I also often see him at car events.  Trying to talk him into buying an Evora ;)

Good point Optical Express provide free aftercare and testing for life.

  5. I'm only suitable for the ultralase wavefront iDesign (aka the most expensive option) by all accounts. Is that what you had done?

I had wavefront, you are fair less likely to get halos at night with wavefront and you should get a slightly better result. I paid extra for it but to be honest I think they should do it routinely.

  6. I had the same blood vessels forming on my corneas BiBs.

They were reluctant to do my eyes as my corneas were thin. I had to have LASEK rather that LASIK. My vision was perfect for around a month then went severaly downhill and they said I'd need them redoing in three months. By the time the three months had passed my vision was better than 20/20. They've been fine since, although they are dry if I rub them.

I now need reading glasses (which laser surgery doesn't correct) and my left eye isn't quite as good as my right but still fine for driving.

The company I work for is the biggest supplier of ophthalmic lasers, although I'm nothing to do with that division.

  8. I started out as a nurse and to be honest I loved it - I was bloody good too! In fact my wife worked with a surgeon who had worked with me 15 years before and when he knew who she was married to said I was still the best cardiac scrub nurse he'd ever worked with.

I went into management, hated it so went into medical sales. I've specialised in cardiology and cardiac surgery and the roles I've had have been very clinical, I currently teach cardiologists and cardiac surgeons how to repair the mitral valve percutaneously and then stand beside them during the case and advise them. My basic is four times what I'd earn as a nurse and in good years I earn more than my customers.

I find it sad however that many consultants are now leaving their jobs to work in the same role as myself as they can earn more.

It's also a reflection of healthcare that when I left my post I was replaced by five managers, absolutely crazy!

  9. The Evora was released before it was finished IMHO. I've not heard of many issues with the Exige V6 aside from suspension components requiring replacement.

From a spares point of view I do know of at least two people who've had to wait six months plus for front clams for late Exiges!

  10. Like he's going to say :)

My contact in engineering says something similar but he says you may be suprissed later in the year should things and money go to plan

The person I spoke to said something similar. I'm not playing games here, they gave nothing away, other than anything I'd heard was going to be announced in 2014 wasn't. But they did say that plans are in place, are being worked to, are not pipe dreams and we will see something in 2015. It will not be on a current platform but no other details could be teased out. They did say though the Evora has a clear lifetime set out. And, they did seem pretty upbeat about it.

The problem is if they show something in Spring 2014 which will replace the Evora, Elise or Exige in Autumn 2015 many people will defer buying until then. Even if it's a new Esprit (let's hope) some potential Evora buyers may wait to see what the price point of the new model ends up being.

Let's just hope Lotus continue to do well. 2013 doesn't look like it was a bad year for them (although obviously it's too early to tell decisively). They are still here and 2013 must have been much better than 2012 - I'm hoping its the foundations of a great future.
