Hi, no its where they ditted the engine and then found out the bonnet did not shutm so thry cut a section out and fibre glassed that mole hill in, The scimitar was one of mine, a real basket case. The robin - WOW

Yes i like that, might try it with the vent and the rest of the bonnet black up to the windscreen.

All i have an Elite with a 3.5 V8, as you can see from the photo the previous owners trashed the bonnet. I have a fibre glass guy who can do pretty much anything,any ideas? or has anyone done this already?

Dunc Thanks or looking, I'll have another look. The only info i can give to help find some history is the car had been taken to Belgium to have the changes done, 3.5 V8, short shift gearbox, complete roll cage and exhaust system, plus anything I haven't found yet.. Once it had been brought back it was left standing for many years until I got it with another 20 clasic cars after a business went bump. The new engine has only done 50 miles. We are seling the number plate to fund the project, maybe the plate might trigger a memoery ot two, reading BLO81T.. Anyway its up and running, it will go for MOT soon. I'll post another question in a different post about what I should do with the bonnet.

I have just seen a yellow one being revved up but I think it maybe a different car, the engine I have is a Rover and the video is a Lotus, sounds like mine though. Wish i could find the one you are talking about.

Hi all i have a 1979 Elite that I have just got running. It has a brand new 3.5 V8 blueprint engine. However after laying around for years I've got it going. Next problem what are all the switches and dials? There are switches in the arm rest, the console, everywhere. Obviously I've pressed them all but only managed to get the wipers to work. Any help would be appreciated

Still noy got her going yet, changed the fuel pipes as the had split, fuel pump had stopped working but luckily had one from a Jag. All I need now is a new battery and I think she will go. I'll update again as soon as she is back on the road. Hopefully will compete in some hill climbs or sprints, if anyone knows of any I'd love to know

Hi new to Lotus and the fourm, just purchased a 1979 Lotus Elite 503, it has a 3.5 V8 EFI engine,has not been run in yet and only covered 50 miles. Been sitting for several years and hopefully I'll bring it back to life.
