  1. when I went round the factory before choosing mine, Scott told me that they weren't going to do liquid yellow again as it meant over 20 hours in the paint shop. It also costs a significant premium above even a scheme like mine. That was early 2015 though, they might have changed their mind again, and I'm sure if you paid them enough they would do it...
  2. How about Canyon red, or estoril blue, or Ferrari Rosso or whatever it is, or even a colour scheme like my Sprint V6? All will cost the same (unless you go for Renaultsport Liquid Yellow, which they won't do), you just have to let your imagination go!
  3. Have you asked your dealer? There has always, in the UK at least, been the ability to ask Lotus to paint your car any colour (or combination) you like; it's the 'exclusives' option was to market it properly. You just have to pay them enough money...
  4. Not at all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
  5. I'd have to read the warranty book to be honest re launch control, but there are already contradictions in the paperwork they provide you on track use and I just don't think it's worth the risk given that part of the reason I've paid a premium for a new car is for the full 3 year warranty protection. There's something in their regarding how often it is used, think it's a 20 lifetime limit but needs a full service every 5 or something, but I can't remember. I think launch control is a gimmick that's there for marketing purposes and I'm never going to use it anyway. To be fair Lotus are usually very good on warranty stuff but I also recall that they denied a warranty claim for a replacement silencer on my car last year after a fault was traced to it by the dealer tech because the (intermittent) rattle coming from it was not a manufacturing fault (don't know what else it can be!). Will see what happens at the coming service...
  6. Every use of launch control will be logged in the ECU though, which can easily be read. Not for me till it's out of warranty!
  7. There's only one solution here Greg. Buy an Exige and complete the set (3-11 aside). You know it makes sense...
  8. Had a go last week in my neighbor's spanking new Cayman S with PDK and a shed load of other options. Price he paid was basically the same as my Exige. It was nice. Easy to drive (he said his wife loves it), well finished, good ride if germanicly over-damped, sounded good with the sports exhaust. And completely uninspiring in every way for me. Are all cooking porsches basically a golf GTi in drag? Drove a 911 Carerra S a while ago and felt exactly the same. I'd love to have a go in a GT4 Cayman but I suspect that once I've done so the conclusion is going to be 'meh, why all the fuss" (apart from the desire to not get blacklisted for the next bit of Porsche 'better than sliced bread'). I love my plastic car and it's taxi engine/gearbox combo
  9. Bloody tiny! Or 40l Get's through an entire tank in 2 runs on a dry day. Worth it though.
  10. Hmmm. You might want to ask Greg what the real world MPG of his car is given how it is used. I get 23MPG out of the exige on a regular use basis (under 7 on track!) and I can't see the 400 being much better given the extra weight. It just has a bigger fuel tank!
  11. I had a go in a Cayman R (well it had an R badge on it, although had been spec'd to basically be an S) last year before I got the V6. Drove to the dealer in my S2 Exige (which had been modified, although probably only running 260HP at best) - and compared to the exige, the R was just slow; uneventful and a bit 'everyday' (read, boring). Which is not what I want in my weekend toy! I don't think the sales guy was terribly pleased when I told him that, especially after I'd scared him silly round my favorite local route!
  12. They reviewed the V6 S in 2012 when it first came out and it was their (joint) 2012 car of the year... Actually I think they reviewed the 350 sport a few issues ago and gave it 5 stars as well. What more do you want? I will happily take you out in mine if you like, it's more hard core than Greg's evora...
  13. Porsche colchester have one in the showroom if you have 100k lying around. They aren't sold out, just have a whopping premium. 1 owner and 190 miles - my guess is its owned by the dealer principal. Personally, at that price, I'd go next door to Lancaster and buy the 599 gtb fiorano. Back to the article I was also surprised it was quite so Lotus positive for evo. Even mentioned the gt4 having bad gear ratios. Not enough for me to renew the sub though!
  14. I don't have a problem with GT3 drivers actually, they usually circulate at about the same speed as me and they are at least driving their pride and joy and so don't take many risks. I do have a problem with racing drivers on trackdays, they don't give a shit about what they are driving as they don't own it, are normally timing despite the express rules to the contrary and overtake in braking zones at the best of times (because they are timing). Couple that with RSRs stupid overtaking rules, I'm just not interested. I will stick with LoT for places like spa.
  15. Based on what I've read of RSR on other forums, there's no way I'd do a track day with them. It's basically a free for all with racing cars using it as a cheap test day (even more so than they do on track days with other TDOs) and I'm not risking my pride and joy in that sort of environment.
  16. Agreed. Wouldn't it be better to have a dealer put it up at 55k on a sale or return basis?
  17. I'd be interested in knowing more. I want to have a go in a 400 round a track but I just can't see how a removable extension to the silencer will cut the noise enough.
  18. I'm not sure how they are going to do it. I believe that every 3 decibels or so represents double the loudness. With most tracks having a limit of 105 static, the solution has to make the 400 half as loud as it currently is. And to make it quiet enough for Bedford, it has to be 4 times quieter. I dont think that is going to be easy.
  19. The thing is, while I agree that the 400 sounds awesome, if you fit it on an Exige you are basically giving up trackdays in the car. And I would rather do trackdays - the car is amazing on track. I think Greg's 400 has been clocked at 108db static. That will get you thrown off every single track in the country, apart from a few unsilenced days at Donnington possibly. I just don't think it's worth it.
  20. isn't it just the access cover that's been redesigned? Front clam looks the same.
  21. I like to think of it as a pb! Actually I came home with a slightly spongy brake pedal as well. Otherwise really happy with the cars performance and have lots of pad material and tyres left after a full day caning it. Super impressed, although not unexpected as I ran an S2 previously and that was tremendous value from a running cost perspective. I didn't see a noise board all day. Must have not been trying hard enough! I have used race mode before but thought sport would make it a bit more lively so that's what I went with. Only had it intervene once when I got a bit too much lift off oversteer. Oh and when I was drifting on the sighting laps - at least thats what the Marshalls thought I was doing! Need to get another day in the diary soon
  22. On track yesterday at Bedford (great day) I managed a new personal best of 6.87 MPG for a tank of petrol and, as a rough approximation, averaged 9 MPG over the course of the day. I was wondering what the PBs are of others on here. I must say that, aside from the drinking issue, the car was awesome. First trackday I've done in it in the dry, it's properly lunatic in performance and I love the way the chassis can be adjusted using the throttle. Little lift mid corner really tucks the nose in hard. I've got absolutely no idea how evo managed to declare a 2.7 Cayman a quicker track car, that's complete garbage. I left it in sport mode and felt like a hero, the car is far better than me as the driver. Had no issues with noise once I got the static test out the way (99 db!) even on a cold clear day with no wind. I would rather like a set of harnesses now though! one other question actually, is it possible to get Michelin Pilot Supersports (or cup 2s) in the right size to fit the v6)?
