  1. My S3 is 20 years old and still has the original (plastic) fuel lines. A friend had an almost nasty split and petrol leak in his S3 which has led me to consider fitting new ones. Question is do I go for Lotus replacement for originality or do I go down the route of metal braided hoses ? Any thoughts would be appreciated Bazza
  2. I've had my '86 S3 for 16 years - its been a fantastic car and I def recommend an S3 - Less to go wrong than in a Turbo, cheaper to run and all the looks. Check all the usual things as you would a normal car. In addition check the exhaust manifold is not cracked, tyres can be tricky to get hold of - original Goodyears are no longer available. Try to speak to the specialist who has looked after it. If its a good one you'll never regret buying it Bazza
  3. Tiegan Thanks for the info - just wondering what you meant by them making a mess on electrostatic days?
  4. I have always had genuine lotus brake pads fitted to my '86 S3 N/A on the basis that you shouldn't muck about with saftey. However, I'm getting tired of having to wash the front (BBS) wheels every time I've been out due to black brake dust making them look unslightly. If I can remember correctly non lotus front pads such as 'Green Stuff' claims not to give off brake dust. What's the view on these? Thanks in advance Bazza
  5. Have a look at your insurance policy. If the insurer has smelt the coffee they will have an exclusion saying no track tdays etc and that's a big no. If however the previous usual standard exclusion is still used it will talk of excluding racing, pacemaking, and speed trials. With this exclusion, so long as you don't deliberately go looking race somebody else, or time yourself on the track, then you would have a stromg arguement to say your standard policy covers you. I work in the insurance industry and had a very public spat via the trade press with a large well known insurer over this and the end result was that agreed I had track day cover but slapped a more restrictive exclusion on at the following renewal ! 6. Witney ? I keep my S3 Esprit in my Dad's garage in Witney Small world eh ? Bazza
  7. Brent Sorry I can't help but I'm also looking for a garage to park my S3 Esprit in Dorset. I'm in London weekdays but have a place (with no garage) near Dorchester. Not sure how much Industrial units/Lock ups might cost but if you wanted to share the cost it might be an option ? How secure is key for me too. Also desperate! Bazza
