  1. I'll assume that you're more than 7 years old. To be fair, my son can also easily go more than 2 hours without stopping, but if we did have to stop for any reason, we'd potentially be stranded in 30 degree heat. Also, there's usually a large queue getting into Goodwood which could potentially cause problems. It's not a case of whether it's possible, and more a case of whether it's sensible, especially considering I have a second car which works fine. We're digressing away from the initial problem though. I'll likely just have to have it fixed next week, and use the Audi, which is fine.
  2. I agree, but it's over 2 hours away, and if I need to stop for any reason - fuel, toilet stop etc, I don't think my 7 year old will be able to push it to get it going again 😅
  3. I've tried contacting a local place who repair starter motors, but they've said they wouldn't be able to fit it in until next week either unfortunately. The 'sensible' thing is just to wait until Thursday, which I will likely do. I did bump start the car with the AA tech, to make sure it works fine, which is does, as I also mentioned that being a possibility for Saturday. It's probably a bit risky though - if I didn't have my son with me, I'd do it, but I don't want to be stranded in 31 degree heat with him 🫠 Thanks for your response though.
  4. Sounds like it could be exactly the same issue as mentioned in this thread - people have mentioned starter motor yoke. Unfortunately I am certainly not a confident DIYer when it comes to cars - give me some wood though and I'll build you anything!
  5. Good afternoon everyone. I have a 2009 launch edition Evora, which recently failed to start. The car started fine twice on Sunday, however after attempting to start it on Monday morning, the starter motor made a metallic 'tink' but didn't spin. The battery is 1 year old, and I charged it fully with a trickle charger, to ensure that it was not battery related. I have had the AA out this morning, who have confirmed that the starter motor is seized. We tried giving it a tap while attempting to start the engine, and it almost worked a couple of times, but we weren't able to unstick it. I have booked the car in at Lotus Silverstone next week to have it fixed, however, I am taking my son to Goodwood on Saturday, and we were hoping to take the Lotus. It's a long shot, but I thought I'd see if anyone with Lotus knowledge was able to help out before the weekend, so we could still go in the Evora, rather than the 'boring Audi'. I am based near Buckingham, Buckinghamshire. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks so much to @Whitey for very generously sending his locking wheel nut over. I've now removed the locking bolts and replaced them all with some nice new shiny bolts and can finally get my slow puncture fixed! I'll keep hold of the locking key in case anyone else needs one in the future! Huge kudos to Witey
  7. That's something Allon White suggested, so if I can't source one by next week that might be the route I go. Definitely want to just replace them with the standard spline bolts now that it's proving hard to source a new key!
  8. That's exactly what I'm attempting to do, but so far haven't found anyone with an A key.
  9. No worries, that is the solution I'm aiming for. Sounds like you beat me to it!
  10. I've just checked the handbook but unfortunately didn't see anything obvious about the key in there. Hopefully the letter stamped on the back is enough. I did also notice that B&C is saying that it's not available, though it also mentions it's a factory order, so maybe needs to be made to order? I have asked Allon White to look into sourcing one when it's in with them next week, however I'd prefer to just remove the bolts and replace them with non-locking ones, rather than buy a new key. That may not be an option though. That would be amazing, by the sounds of it it's unlikely to be the same one, but I'll cross my fingers!
  11. I recently went to a tyre shop to have a wheel investigated for a slow leak, and unfortunately the locking wheel nut key broke as the guy tried to remove the bolt. He had shown me beforehand that it was missing a tooth (presumably during a previous wheel removal) and said it might break, which duly happened. I'm considering just doing away with the locking bolts - they seem more hassle than they're worth, so was hoping someone local to Buckingham might be able to lend me their key so I can remove the bolts without having to buy a new key. I've attached an image of what mine look like - a triangle shape with notches in the middle of each side. Hopefully they're similar among other Evoras.
  12. The Sport was released in 2018 so had two extra years of sales than the non-sport. We're now around 3 years since the non-sport went on sale, so we might start to see more of them come to the market. At least, that's what I'm hoping 😀
  13. @MrBlueSky ha, same, I went to a car show last weekend in the Evora, and on the way back my wife and two boys all fell asleep. Definitely think the GT410 will be my preferred choice just a matter of finding one now. I'm in no rush, I still love me my LE Evora but will keep an eye on the market.
  14. Thanks @Bibs, I was trying to find something similar from Lotus themselves, but this is ideal. I wrongly assumed that they were released at the same time, I didn't realise the non-Sport model came after, which would probably explain why there are fewer around.
