  1. Hi, I’ve got an Elise 220 (2020) with a standard exhaust but its really loud, it sounds like a sports exhaust. I’d really like to quieten this down somehow but its proving really difficult to find options to do this. can anyone offer any suggestions? Cheers.
  2. Thanks, I did buy it and haven't heard the noise since so fingers crossed
  3. Hi Last weekend I bought a 2 year old Elise at a Lotus Dealer down south. At the start of the test drive I drove out of the showroom with the salesman next to me and as we went down a little dip we felt/heard something loose in front of our feet sounding like it came from the suspension area but maybe in the middle of the car. The salesman said to me that they would get that fixed during their service during the week. We carried on with a 20min test drive on reasonably good B roads and this noise didn't happen again. After the service mid week the salesman rang me up to say that their mechanic had done a thorough inspection all over the front end and had found nothing so it was ready to pick up. I said that there clearly was an issue and therefore I wouldn't pick the car up until he had identified what the noise was and it was fixed. The salesman then spent some time in the car, went over the same bump out of the showroom and all sorts of other tests and couldn't replicate the problem at all. I am now in a quandry. The dealer is 4.5 hours drive from me so it's not easy to go and check the car myself and come home. Although he assures me that the Lotus warranty will mean that I can take it to a dealer near me, it's still over an hours drive and obviously I don't want the hassle with a car I've just bought. What do you all think?
  4. Thanks again for your replies. Well, i finally tried one yesterday and the differences are very noticeable. The new car was better in many ways, the suspension was much softer, no crashing, the gearbox much tighter and doesn't do like mine and go too far over to the left, and also the whole car feels much better put together and I didn't hear any rattles and squeaks. As you've said though, the exhaust is MUCH louder, maybe twice as loud as mine which is the opposite of what I want. So I'm looking at buying a facelift car and then seeing if I can getting a custom exhaust to calm it all down, the standard exahust from the older cars 1.8 non turbo version may be the one.
  5. OK well thanks for that, as you say I'll just need to try one and see.
  6. Hi, I've got a 2014 Elise 220 Sport and thinking about upgrading to the revised version in 2018. The things I'd like to see are: - That the gearbox has a limiter which means you can't go too far left in the gate and stops you getting into 2nd gear easily - A slightly softer suspension. - The exhaust doesn't resonate or boom at 2000rpm which is uncomfortable as that's the rpm that I generally drive at Do you have any other thoughts on the 2018 upgrade? Just some of my background info in case it's useful. I've had many 911's over the years and also a McLaren 540, looking for the best balance of speed along with driver appeal. It started to become clear that these cars are great but on the roads, particularly Norfolk B roads where I live, the cars are just frustrating in that you cant stretch their legs at all. I changed my GT3 to a manual car to get back to a more interesting drive and a fantastic noise, but it's still too refined. So I bought an Elise a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly with the top down in the sun. :)
