  1. Nothing to do with the distance between front and rear wheels being ever-so-slightly shorter on one side of the car than the other on his tie fighter then!?! I have to say my car is the best handling esprit on this forum without a doubt .......as long as i keep turning left! Its just when i turn right that it all goes to pot!!
  2. Hi Gav, glad to hear that you are still up for it! I take your point about the price, i personally don't think
  3. Come on guys, i need 3 more drivers!!! The List so far is... Simonf.................gokart required (LEF) Fighting Torque.....gokart required (LEF) Martin High...........gokart required Shaun..................gokart required Stephen J.............gokart required Simon Hands........gokart required 2 Lousy LEFers is a disgrace, come on guys i have taken time to arrange this for the AEG and so far i have 2 members!! It does make me wonder if i am wasting my efforts somewhat!
  4. I highly recommend the Eagle on the Newmarket Road (A11) its somewhat of a surprise as the food is better that you would expect for the price! What i meen is that i took my wife to the Annesley House Hotel on valentines day, the Annesly has been awarded 2 AA rosettes for excellence, my finding were that the food was at best average and the price rediculous. I have never refused to pay for a meal in my life but i came pretty close there. The Eagle is right opposite the Annesley and the food was much better, you would have thought that AA had got the restaurants mixed up!! And as for the price, well its pub food prices, a very nice surprise....Highly recommended by me! I concur with kimber and scott on Brasteds, it is nice if a little potentious!! Last Wine bar excellent if a little pricey (compared with the Eagle anyhow) Tattlers in tombland is very nice at a similar price band to the Last Wine Bar, Greens on Upper st giles is very bice if you want fish and The Belgium Monk is very nice if you want mussles and belgium beer!! Anyway one thing is for sure, you will like your night out in Norwich, its lovelly but if you go for a beer afterwards, just stay at the Tombland end of thing where it is somewhat more civilised than the hords of chavs that occupy Prince Of Wales Road! Enjoy Simon PS if the wife gets a headache or something, give us a shout as we don't need to much encouragement to join a fellow leffer on the P!55!!
  5. Who is the seat sniffer?? That is a wierd passtime and no mistake!
  6. Probably be a little cold and maybe stale by the time it reaches you my friend! Last time i was at the Dog Inn (honestly it what its called not what i was doing!!) i enquired why they had named their special burger (which was very tasty) the Norton Burger which is named after the place not the pub! Everyone knows that as the pub is call The Dog Inn it should be called the Dog Burger!! Can't think why they chose to call it the Norton burger. BTW i think you can already get a dog burger in Singapore so no need to send you one!!! Simonf
  7. Hi Dave, We have talked about having them on the Saturday....but at the AEG, any change from the norm seems to be viewed with fear and derission!! I am always up for a hoon on a saturday though! Keep you posted on any news on thaty front! Best wishes Simon
  8. Hi guys, Its time to start arrange the next AEG meeting and this time it is at The Dog at Norton, Suffolk. The date will be 2nd June 2009 meet at 7.30pm to eat at 8pm! Could i have a list of attendees please:- Simonf..........food required
  9. Did they do a 126 arbarth? what you need is some crazy blistered arches!!! When you refer to a more sensible Letting Agent.....i didn't realise that she had other agents coming round that day!! LOL. You have obviously been very busy on your car, but your list of repairs are pale in comparrison to the tradgic B125AHM! See thread in resto! although technically mine is not a restoration its just one massive running repair!!!!! Best wishes Simon
  10. The list so far then..... Simonf + 4 guests fightingtorque any more?
  11. Hi there fightingtorque, small world eh! You might have washed it within the last 5months! Even my sickly S3 turbo with its many, many, many problems hasn't got a thick protective coating of dust on it! Always nice to see another lotus and i have to say i would kill for your garage!! Carpeted too! I looks like a very comfortable place to work on your plethera of cars! BTW Lotus - yes definately! Fiat cienquechento - OK I suppose so - if it floats your boat Fiat 126 - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!! LOL Oh and good luck at the Nurburgring! Brave taking the Esprit!
  12. I know i have already PM'd you this but i thought everyone else might like to know just in case they have sons, daughters, nieces or nephews that might like to come along.... There is no age limitation, they just need to be able to reach the pedals However please duly note that i will be seriously P!55ed off if a get beaten by an eight year old and this may result in them being banned fron any further AEG motorsport!! Simonf Change of plan again (typical AEG groan, groan!!) I have BOOKED the Go Karting for the Bank Holiday Monday being the 25th May at 5.30pm We are booked in for a grand prix!!! This requires at least 9 drivers and will cost

  17. Right lets buy ourselves a little more time to get this sorted out properly! I have enough friends that want to come to make sure that this event goes ahead! Friday the 29th May is the new date. Ellough Park Raceway is the venue. Please could i have a new list of those that can and want to come. Simonf + 5 guests....(please add your name and any guests to this list if you wish to come) Thank you Simon
  18. Seeing as it was bank holiday monday (a free day from all the chores that Mrs F likes to bestow on every normal weekend!) Mr Clements and i decided that we should remove the engine from my esprit once more!! The head had already been removed and so it was almost a straight forward affair!! Andy decided that on previous engine removals, the engine has been lifted at almost 45degrees and as the head was already off we didn't need such a steep angle so we needed a load leveller. We then hoisted the engine up - until the hoist had reached is maximum travel...only to find that because we were using the load leveller the hoist would no lift high enough to see the engine over the rear spoiler! Andy started thinking 'outside the box' and decided that instead of dropping the engine back down and shortening the hoist straps.... we should take the rear wheels off to lower the height of the car... a good enough idea but sadly this did not work. Andy did stop short of suggesting jacking the front of the car (ala My fathers leer jet solution for those of you who read the thread!!) so we decided to drop the engine back down and shorten the straps. SUCCESS! The engine was removed from the car and then the gearbox removed from the engine ready for the strip down! I thought i would be able to carry the gearbox into the garage from its resting point halfway down my drive.....i couldn't....but andy could! and he wonders why he has a bad back!!! Anyway i will post photographs of my melted pistons when i have removed them from the block!! Simonf
  19. At such late notice!?! Never going to happen, don't you know that the AEG have a reputation for not being able to organise anything - especially in a hurry! How does this sound.... We stay on target with the Go Karting but we allow a little extra time for people to work out that it is actually REALLY GOOD FUN!!! But for now i will try and sort out a meet at the Dog at Norton! for next week.
  20. Colin, That depends on what we do. I was hoping to get enought interest to get a grand prix organised but we seem to be struggling for numbers again!! I have some friends that will fill the numbers so far i have you, me, maybe G3RRY and i have six friends (hard to believe but honestly i do!!) that would be up for some karting whatever the day or weather. If we just arrive and drive (pre-booked window) i think 2x 15 minute sessions was
  21. Yes that is true.....but i have been seduced by the dark side! Funny i don't remember darth vaders tie fighter needing 3 engine changes! But it did have the same steering fault if i remeber correctly that was what stopped him from shooting that pesky Skywalker out of the sky at the end of 'a new hope' Still i think he had it sorted by 'empire strikes back'
  22. A friend of mine has some ohlins shocks and springs for sale - they are virtually new has he has changed the set up to race spec. He tells me that they are
  23. Sorry Chemlmsford on a school night - just that little bit too far....and besides aren't Porsche drivers the enemy??
  24. The date will have to be the friday 8th May now as they do not do evening races on a tuesday, wednesday of thursday! Might make it easier for a few of you to make it??
