Here's a link to the thread for the Cortina buffet: http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/59021-saturday-night-music-bbq/
-
Its always tropical in Kent, Gordon - and tomorrow is no exception as we're due a VERY tropical rain storm...
-
Gert - are you booked on a specific Eurotunnel train and, if so, what time are you due to hit UK soil ??
I live 5 minutes from the UK side of the Eurotunnel so could try to meet and drive up the M20 together if you like ??
-
I too would be keen to know what the massive are thinking of doing
Barrie - looks like you've got your name down for the Cortina buffet in the MSV building tomorrow night !!
-
This one passed me by - can't buy tickets online; is it still possible to get a ticket, so I can come in my S4 Comemmorative limited edition?
Andrew - would/could you be around for both Saturday and Sunday ?? Not sure about the Esprit Timeline but there still appears to be space on the TLF club stand tomorrow (Saturday) and the S4 Commemorative is quite a striking model visually so would be good to display. Its Bibs' call and he has the display car tickets and VIP parking hangers. If not, but you still want to visit the festival, tickets can be purchased on the day at the gate (but at full price rather than discounted).

Gates open at 8am and we need to have the cars on display by 8.45ish I think and there may be queues so I'm planning to arrive by 8am latest.

Drove home from work (Ashford, Kent) on the M20 this afternoon and was greeted by lots of oncoming Loti from mainland Europe !!
What a wonderful sight - can't wait for the weekend now
-
Thanks so much Pete.
Don't worry - I don't think there will be a shortage of photos
-
I'd love to but work once again screws things up. If someone wants to drive my car from Basingstoke, subject to insurance etc, give me a shout.
Pete
What a fantastic offer - thanks Pete
Now, who fancies a nice drive in a lovely S2 plus free entry to the festival for the weekend ?!? Finding a willing driver must surely be easier than finding a suitable car ?!?
-
I think the S is a pretty big ask as there's so few of them in existence but there must be an S2 in our midst.
What about Peter Gentilli's blue S2 ??
-
I've just looked back through the thread and can't see where/why we lost Chris Southam's S2 ?!?
Am I missing something ?!?
-
Being a 2 door car, that rear quarter panel is huge and not easily replaceable I'd imagine so it will probably have to be filled.
Assuming she was fully insured and her insurers have agreed liability and go ahead for the repairs ??

Getting back to the thread topic, I've just watched last night's Top Gear - actually, I've only watched the first half of last night's Top Gear so far - and I've already seen 3 Lotus cars featured...
The Lotus Esprit on the stamp and an Elise and 340R buzzing around Castle Combe with the bus.
I *think* that's more models by a single manufacturer than any other so far in the programme.

Yup - used to visit Dreamland Margate quite regularly as a kid. Loads of memories of whizzing around on the old wooden rollercoaster !! Used to be able to see the Big Wheel half way across Kent...
Oh and Enterprise - that was an AWESOME ride
-
Anyone else spot Fish's Diablo in the Lambo feature ??

Ah yes the Gurkha/Nepalese restaurant is very good and only just down the road from my house! Would be great to meet up then. I'm sure we could try to persuade Bibs to pop down too
-
am sure I saw once a S4 with both the original wing and a S4S wing and from what I remember it didn't look too bad.
Are you thinking of x6gas's X180 with S4 & S4s wings ??
More photos on his website: http://www.cytherean.co.uk/esprit/

Sorry to hear about your Dad
Do you normally overnight this side of the Channel before getting Eurotunnel in the morning ??
If so, I'm less than 5 mins from the tunnel entrance so it would be great to meet up in the evening - I may even be able to put you up for the night unless you're in convoy with others.
Let me know and maybe we can arrange something for your trips next year
-
I don't think my arrow the size of Canary Wharf helps with perspective !!
They'll be giving us enough space to display the cars properly, have no fear

The Lotus Festival organisers are making a pretty big thing of the Esprit Timeline display. If you take a look at the event website (http://www.lotus-festival.com/), you'll see it is making front page news plus more detail under the Special Lotus Cars section.
The Esprit Timeline display will be in a prime location FOR BOTH DAYS of the festival. If you haven't spotted it on the Event Map on the event website, I've made it easier for you below
Folks - we're a big feature of this 2 day festival. Lets not make it a half-hearted effort - between us we have ALL the Esprit models required so we CAN make this a display to be really proud of and one that thousands of people will be looking at
-
Just confirming my presence on both days with my car although I haven't organised overnight accommodation yet...

Awwwww you guys - you make our cars sound unreliable...
