Black Steering Wheel Badge

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

Has anyone replaced their standard steering-wheel badge with a black one - and if so, can you please tell me where you got it from?

I'm seeing plenty of black coloured nose and wheel badges, but nothing specifically for the steering-wheel.  I'm guessing they're different as the steering-wheel badge looks to be a lot more delicate than the nose / wheel badges (maybe something to do with the airbag?).

Thanks

Greg's raceparts in the US do them not sure if quality or removal of old one etc don't know of anyone else doing specific badges for the steering wheel though.

Thanks @sellman

They look very similar to the gel / domed stickers that various folk sell for the the wheel caps - I'll measure one of those in the morning and see if they're the same size as the steering-wheel one.

Removed the OE one and went with a domed-gel sticker.  Looks much better (IMHO 😂).

Wheel centres also done - just have to figure out how to get the nose-badge off, and order black lettering for the back and then I'll be happy!

Nice job looks good. I think the black suits your interior colours better, adding a yellow badge in the mix might cause a clash of colours?  How did you get the old one off, is it just a stick on one too?

Nose badge comes off with a bit of gentle heat and piece of fishing wire to get under the badge then work the wire all the way around. Or you can use a thin bladed screwdriver wrapped in cloth to prevent damaging the paint work.

The steering wheel badge on mine (2016 - 400) had a number of prongs located around the edge which slotted into a corresponding circular groove on the airbag module.  I binned mine, but found this pic on the web which is broadly similar.

You need to insert a strong thin sharply-pointed instrument under the badge  and prise off.  It's a bit of a pest (very tight) - if I was doing it again, I'd probably leave the OE badge in place and just stick the gel one over the top of it.

+1 on the instructions and source of the badge please @SH! Great job, looks better. I have the same interior colour scheme as you, and I do think that the yellow steering wheel emblem stands out a bit too much. Black looks better.
