Recommended Battery Cable Size

What size cable between battery and starter solenoid and earth should there be on an S2 Esprit? Need to replace a bodge job but the stuff from Halfords looks awfully narrow.

current draw will be between 100- 150 amps, sometimes more depending on temperature conditions , go for  322/0.30, 25mm², 10mm, 170A ,

cross section is 10mm or go next size up 35mm², 12mm cable cross section size, rated to 240A.

If Halfords don't have it, find your local Durite stockist, they should sell it to you by the metre

Thanks Steve. It's for another car but I've measured mine to compare and they are the cables fitted by SJ when they restored the car many years ago. 8.3mm OD which seems to be 110A and I've never had any issues with them. Same size as the Halfords ones. The stuff getting replaced looks like it belongs on a lorry, it's massive!
