Auxiliary belt

Recommended Posts

Hi, An approved service centre has told me that Lotus has recently issued a service bulletin recommending that the auxiliary drive belt, which I think is the supercharger belt ?, should be changed every 4 years / 36k miles. In my service book (2014 exige v6S) it doesn't give a replacement time scale for the Exige ( it does for the supercharged Elise of 2 years). Any one heard anything about this ? Thanks.

Mine has had a new one after 3 years, was not dead at the time, but was showing some wear. Definitely, 4 years is the info I have heard from different places, and also the period you see in the service book I think ..

Yes, this is correct (4 year service interval).

@Hangar 111 can confirm.

Yep, service schedule for all V6 cars has been revised for 4yr interval on the belt.  Obviously this will not show in the owners handbook.  Easier on an Evora than Exige, where you have to remove the engine mount to do it.

@Hangar 111--So Dave, can the serpentine belt be changed on the Exige w/o removing the rear clam?

Booking mine in for this, is it sensible to get anything else done at the same time (water pump?) Not sure what/if anything else gets driven by the belt to be honest?

There are 11 pulleys on the belt run.  Not worth changing anything unless there is a specific problem.  Just check all the pulley bearings, particularly on the idlers whilst the pulley assembly is off.
