Evora reversing sensor gearbox switch???

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Can the Lotus Forums hive mind help me out with another niggle.

When I select reverse there is usually a beep an the reversing sensors activate.

Now this beep has become intermittent as has the activation of the reversing sensors.

Is there a gearbox switch that can easily replaced to sort this issue out?

Thanks

Mark

Reverse sensor module is in the boot on LH side.  It is activated by the reverse switch (5A fuse in location R12).

Do the other reverse items activate correctly?  i.e. camera/head unit (if fitted), reverse light.

If so, it would point to an issue at the reverse module.  First thing to check would be whether it is being powered up when you engage reverse (assuming reverse light/camera is working).

Thanks for your response Dave.

The camera works if its selected manually from the HU but it doesn't come on automatically like it should when reverse is selected.

Reverse sensors have been intermittent and I thought it might have been the cold weather effecting them.

When the weather warmed up today they failed to work at all and I didn't get the audible beep.

The reverse light is working fine.

I didn't have any of these issue with my Launch Edition but since I've bought the S they have developed.

What are your thoughts?

Glad its working. But to answer your question, yes #9 above.

It should be made by Cobra (probably model 0158) and will look like this.....(please disregard the extra wires with inline fuse holder. They are for something I added to my car)

If your reverse lights work, then the fuse should be good to the camera as they share the same 5A fuse. And, if you can manually select the camera from the head unit, I would think that the video feed from the camera itself is fine too. So, my guess is that its an activation issue possibly caused from lack of signal from the + reverse feed ( I think on my Alpine this is an orange/white wire at the back of the head unit). That's where I would test first with the gear in reverse.

For the reverse sensors, if they are now working that's great news. However, if they stop again, try re-seating the power cable on the module. On the Cobra Parkmaster 0158 it is this cable:

Hi there

The sensors are still intermittent so I had time to take a look today. They were working this morning but stopped again later on in the day. The power cable seems to be firmly connected to the module and I've looked at all the surrounding wiring which all looks fine to me. I wasn't sure how to remove / release to connector but Ive given the power cable a wiggle a few times too but there was no change. Im getting no beep when I put the car in reverse and nothing from the sensors. It.s so frustrating.

I also removed the Alpine head unit to check the camera wiring and they were all correctly connected.

Ive attached a few pics
