Car cover for when the roof is off?

Recommended Posts

All

I appreciate taking the roof off could kill me to death but with summer round the corner the temptation to take the roof off grows by the day..

Does anyone know of custom made car covers to literally just cover the roof space when removed? (As marked in blue) Literally something to throw on while parked up at the beach for an hour or so and capable of a tie down. Something small and easy to roll up and throw in the boot again.

I know there is a soft top conversion option with lotus but I think its over kill when I just want to secure a sheet for a short time.

Thanks @rafphillips

You’re after a shower cap.

hanger111 may do a v6 version or the Elise may fit.

Or these guys do one if you scroll down: https://www.showercap.de/shop/

I had an Elemental cover for my S1 Elise supplied by @Hangar 111 and it was excellent, I used it all the time.  It secured through the wing mirrors, under the wiper and over the boot lid mounted aerial so might be able to be adapted for a V6 Exige.

Following for a solution :)

would love to take the roof off and be able to leave it almost overnight and not be stressed about putting the roof back on again!

My thoughts exactly.

I have a design in mind which I will produce if an option cannot be found

Correct me if I’m wrong but the shower cap is designed to be put over a roof. If it’s rains heavily the weight of the water will pool and cause it to collapse I would imagine.

Just buy a second hand soft top. If you keep it in good condition you will be able to sell in future and get all your money back.

Plus I’m sure you will fins with proper roof in boot you will risk using car a lot more topless

It's more the fact I don't want to spend £1000 to make my life easier haha

I held back saying this as it was mentioned in the original post - I don't need to spend £1k when I just want to throw something over the roof space if I stop for an hour or so

Is anyone by their lotus that can provide some measurements of the following:

Roof space total

Length to mirrors from roof corner (to clip on at the front)

Length from rear of roof to the first louvered rung (to clip on to at the rear)

Cheers
