430 remap

Is there anyone who does a 430 remap for the 400 other than Komotec? I tried to book mine in with the guys @Hangar 111 but understand Komotec no longer support it, instead focusing on the 460 upgrade. I don’t want to go that far especially as the cost is significantly more with decreasing marginal gains in performance, so I’m looking for alternatives.  Any thoughts?

I am surprised the 430 remap isn't more popular. A simple reflash with no hardware changes for an extra bit of HP and Torque seems like a good idea.

I emailed Hangar 111 and they said they have done one car so far. Single car. They believed the car was running well and there weren't any problems to note.

Just for clarity, the 430 remap option was never really marketed by Komo-Tec, instead they have chosen to focus on the 460 upgrade.  We were able to do it to one car who was a good customer of ours, and he said it was great. However, KT have subsequently decided to no longer offer the 430 option.

I would always change the Evora headers when upgrading engine performance as a first step.
In my opinion this is needed to make the engine run safe and reduce the heat at the cylinder heads and make no damage to the catalyzers.
Hi flow headers with a single metal catalyzer in the back work very well and you can feel that change alone immediately.
So it is logic to go for the full 460 option in the 400 because changing the headers is the most expensive part of the job.
That´s what Komo-tec offers. And the price approx. 5000.- EUR for 55 hp for the parts and mapping is fair.
Any 430 by mapping only makes no sense to me as it can be dangerous.

But maybe this is a typical German quality-performance thinking - we can drive the car very hard on the motorway so we must take care and do it right from the start.
And it is also my thinking that the Evora needs approx. 10.000 EUR performance tuning investment to become the sharp Lotus everybody wants to drive.
It is 10-15% of the car price in Germany and it is worth it 🙂

While we are on the subject of performance up grades, I spoke to Harrop about there inter-cooler supercharger and its a complete system, manifold, supercharger and their cooling system which is designed for pre 4xx series and the unit cannot "at this point in time" be fitted to the 400 as the ecu is different

https://www.harrop.com.au/shop/tvs1900-toyota-2gr-fe-v6?search=toyota V6

These units are more efficient than the edelbrock supercharger , this has been posed before but its worth posting it here.

The ECU tune is different, BOE (USA) with packages an intercooled TVS1900 Kit specific to the Evora vs. SSC's (Australia) which is packaged to the Exige body has full tuning capability over the Lotus T6 based ECU, be it in a Series 1 or 4xx car.  What they have not yet done is make a 4xx series Kit as the biggest market is for conversation of older NA cars.

This was the response I go from HARROP

Hi Graeme

At this stage as we have not tried to fit one to a Evora 400 I cannot say what you may require.

The ECU setup as well as the supercharger was changed by lotus on this setup and we know that there is no access to the ecu to change anything as of yet.

Bumping this thread - KT seems to have this listed as a real product.  Anyone using it?  Really would be curious to see if it will be compatible with US spec cars.

I hope Hanger 111 makes that available to US owners of the 400!

Write to Phil at BOE Fabrication, he has the most extensive hack into the full code of the Series 1 T6 ECU and is just in need to seeing demand to get t a market position on the 4xx T6 ECU.  I know is he is in the code, but needs to see demand to develop new tunes.

I dunno, I'd be surprised if you'd notice much difference going from 400 to 430 all in the top end. Can't be much in it at all. Without a torque increase I can't it making hardly any difference on a give stretch of public road?

It's rated at a 40Nm gain . . .

The other nice thing about reflashes is that, at least with regard to numerous other cars and sportbikes I have reflashed, the throttle response is usually much crisper and the engine will feel more frisky.

Good to know, the 40 Nm is of interest along with throttle response. It would also be interesting to see the dyno curve to see where the changes occur.

I am also considering a Moroso sump for cooling and surge protection.

I have been emailing with Sascha from Komo-Tec regarding this reflash for a US spec car.  He has told me that the programming will work with my car (I have deleted the US-spec 3rd cat and have a K&N filter).  Here is part of what he has told me:

"You connect the OBD cable to the vehicle and send us the current data status of the vehicle. Based on this we make the tune file and send it to you by email. You can then import this via cable and laptop to the ECU."

I have done e-tuning and datalogging with some other vehicles so hopefully this is a similar process.  I am going to do a little more research but it seems like a good option.

If anyone else has used this reflash, please post up your thoughts!

Installed the Komo-Tec Ev4-435 kit on my US-spec Evora 400 with K&N panel filter and 3rd cat delete (US cars have a weird small extra catalytic converter).  Dyno runs done 2 days apart.
