Whoever designed those has a special place in car part hell for me. Soft plastic, and a groove too wide to fit a decent screwdriver in without ruining the sides and too shallow to fit anything else in.

But, they are a terrible design, I am forever kicking them off when getting in the car.

Alloy versions would at least grip and stay in place

@Dan.G that is pretty eye watering price to be honest.  No. I take it back. It's a fooking ridiculous price and sometimes suppliers need to smack themselves in the face and wake up from the day dream.

I am very happy to be proven wrong but would expect the manufacturing cost here to be under £1 each to make. Unless of course they are made from some unobtainium metal alloy by vestal virgins who are guaranteed £150 per hour wages by the Vestal Virgin and Cherub General Workers Union  collective bargaining agreement.

People actually use the groove to tighten them? I used to just gently nip them up by hand using the outer diameter and never had an issue.

You don’t use your torque wrench to tighten them?!

Like @Arun_D I just tighten mine by hand using the outer diameter. Never been an issue and looking at those alloy ones it would be same technique to tighten them anyway.

I'd also get annoyed if they don't line up with the logo, so probably would end up having them not quite as tight and falling off more
