Choke lever hole, Any suggestions???

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

im looking for some ideas on what to do with the hole in the dash where the choke lever once lived.

I have converted my car to fuel injection and therefore no longer require the plunge switch lever.

Could just blank it off with a black plastic trim piece but thought it might be nice to have a button there. Only problem know is for what function???

thought of an omex launch control button but it’s a bit primitive and I’m not in a rush to change my clutch!!!

other thought was maybe fitting parking cameras front and rear and use a switch to select between the 2??

suppose I start button is an option, just seems a bit pointless as would still need the key.

thought about fitting electronic parking brake (as have rubbish hispec rear caliper system) but then the handbrake lever is redundant (it annoys me when things don’t do anything)!!

Anyone got any other ideas??

Cheers

chris

A little bunch of flowers?

Phone carrier?

GoPro to film all the excited passengers?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

You could use it as a mounting point for OBD port from your Omex ECU..     This will allow you to plug in a lap top / tablet , then study tuning parameters in real time.      I found that very useful during development of mine when fitted with Omex..  Its actually amazing the little tuning points you can pick up on which are not so evident during dyno time..   Or you could fit a digital boost controller which piggy backs the Omex with up six settings , then fit the boost control switch in that spot.   Just a thought

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

the mrs loves the flowers idea (no chance)

already got the boost controller fitted in the centre console.

was thinking of putting the usb/Odb port in the glove box but this might be an alternate option.

Don’t want to have to make the hole any bigger so an AF meter is out of the question plus I wouldn’t be able to easily see it.

Could wire a switch up to the central locking but think the alarm has the function to auto magically (typo but fitting) lock the doors on ignition. Plus only ever been concerned driving through 2 areas over the last 20 years and have no plan to revisit them lol.

Decisions, decisions...

a mate suggested under floor lighting but thinking that’s a bit too fast and furious for both me and the car lol!!

I could make you a new sill carpet without the handbrake slot. 😀

It’s a sad state of affairs gentlemen when you have a stunningly cool car and instead of pulling girls in it you’re thinking of getting jiggy with the dashboard. I know leather wipes clean but really, cum on!!!! 🙄

That would be my choice, although it might only be small enough for a finger. Line the hole with silk or velvet and use it to pass the time when stuck in traffic.

How about a disembodied digit, poking accusingly toward the driver? Or would that just depict the working end of said glory hole?

Aux/USB port for your stereo, or device chargers?

While you decide you could just label a fake button " Burglar Protection"

Mine's still a blank hole in the ferrule, haven't done anything with it since I went EFI, so looking for an answer myself!
