Strange wire under number plate ?

I was replacing the old numbers on the S2 when I came across this lose wire on the back......any idea whats its for ?

Is it a back up boot release pull , in case the other cable breaks ..   check where other end goes

Well,

I installed this and only weeks later, I needed it. I was really happy I did.You can try if it is hooked up. Simply pull it and the hatchlock should unlock.
