Sun visors

Hi everyone 

I am looking for a pair of sun visors for my 1982 S2 Elite. Preferably black or grey but colour not that essential as can get them recovered, hopefully.

Is there any difference between S1 & S2?

Berend72 had a set of brown leatherette S1 ones that looked like they could be recoloured/ referbbed easily

Yes - S1 is different freom S2. From memory an S1 visor is essentially a wire frame covered in fabric/cardboard. S2 is a bit more robust and clearly a "purchased from elsewhere" part. The clip in and out plastic retainer on the S2 are often brittle and they are unobtaineoum nowdays. Somebody mused allegro as a source, but I never got that confirmed (I have a broken one).

I think the S2 visors have an illuminated vanity mirror. It would be useful if they could be completely detached and give you a view of what is going on behind the dash (as is sometimes necessary!)

I decided that a sun visor is just a sun visor and got some pale grey ones off a BMW E36 (I think) that was being broken. You can use the BMW clips but need to keep the Lotus hinge pivot and jam it into the visor. Needless to say you lose the mirror illumination, so make sure the wiring is suitably disconnected!

My S2 sun visors were broken, so I replaced the whole cant rail complete with visors from an Excel.
