Freescan 210 - No bytes sent or recieved

Guest

Hi.

1998 esprit gt3

I am using an aldl cable from the forum and free scan 2.1.0

Freescan is set to

100ms

Com1

USB configured

Com 1

Baud 9600

Press start and nowt happens... it tries to start but no data is exchanged

I tried different baud and went up and down the speeds in freescan and made no progress , including setting baud to 8200

If I use espritmon all I get is the spark, which does change with revs...

Spent another couple of hours on this today,

Freescan says P.00 - Finding start header

When ignition is on or engine running. This is the only response I receive.

I have tried to force data on interact, with no bytes sent or recieved.

Espritmonv4 is not showing spark... it is showing a response in the spark table but the engine isn't running !

So I downgraded to espritmonv3.... no spark junk data anymore.... but no data whatsoever

Try TunerPro, it has the option to test for a valid cable.

Ahaa , I actually downloaded it earlier..  will be a while till I get to test it as I dropped the esprit back in storage this morning.

ok, i have tried everything:

rebuilt a laptop to windows10 32 bit with only freescan or esprit mon installed

tried on an old laptop that still had com ports... tried on a mac running windows, tried on a tablet running windows, tried on a dell latitude... all tried as they came, then rebuilt with fresh O/S and updates.

tried tunerpro

rebuilt to 64bit

installed drivers repeatedly

passenger side port or boot/trunk port..same result, No engine data (while engine is running !!)

if i save ecu coms log to disk; they have headers and no data

NO bytes sent, a few bytes in, ...if i unplug the aldl cable from the car while freescan is running I get a runtime error ! that is all i can make it do.

image below showing freescan and driver information, please help...

With Espritmon I had to try various COM ports until I found one that worked. Ended up with these settings in lotus.cfg:

mode=0
com=7
baudrate=8192
gpscom=0
gpsbaudrate=115200

This using a USB-ALDL connector provided by @internets.

Only issue I've found is that on the first connection, it failed to link (once). 2nd connection, just restating Espritmon with mode=0, it got talking to the ECU and all was fine.

The above on a Win10 PC sitting snugly on a blanket in the boot. PC still worked after a blast around the local roads :)

this is my esprit mon:

mode=0
com=1
baudrate=8192
gpscom=0
gpsbaudrate=115200

which matches the COM in my windows config

my cable is from @internets too

This is my full USB/COM configuration (from USB View) in case someone really wants to get to sleep:

Found this more direct method to see what COM port your USB is on:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Click on View in the menu bar and select Show hidden devices.
  3. Locate Ports (COM & LPT) in the list.
  4. Check for the com ports by expanding the same

Com port 7 is the one that works on mine:

Hope this helps!?

Working! The software was ok, it was a dodge cable. @Internets came round, diagnosed it and now I have  a new cable and a working windows tablet and freescan dashboard..  😁

But only via boot port, passenger... and of course the convenient port, is totally unresponsive... any ideas ?
