Fitting blow off valve

Recommended Posts

So is it smart to fit blow off valve to my car? I know it already has a blow off valve but I'm thinking to replace it like here: http://invenair.com

I was looking GReddy Type-S BlowOff-valve. Greddy is well know among jap-tuning cars (supras and so on). So is it a good idea to switch this Greddy-product, which costs 235euros!!! It's even adjustable. Anyone done this modification?

Esprit's vent type is vent-to-atmosphere type, so it makes more whoosh-sound during gear-changes B)

it is something that i have planned for a long time just always had more pressing things to sort out.

As for BOV Greddy is a good name in the jap scene but you can really go for anything that takes your fancy.

Only issue i can see is where to take a vacume feed from on the G cars?

Can't you take it from the same place as Esprit's original take it?

yes, but you need to make a custom fitting. i don't like the whoosh sound on the greddy. it'll make the car sound like a honda. i say find an alternative if only for originality.

I thought Greddy-valves are best you can find so there aren't any alternative. But is there any benefit to replace the original, future plans are to make some engine-tuning for the car. So more power is coming someday B)

not so much on your car. it's nice to have full adjustability to suit your driving style though. definitely do it, but there is no rush. an ultrawide exhaust will give you far more performance benefits.

The original lotus dosnt have a vacume feed as such does it?

It simpy works on a plunger affect of the little nylon bush?

If i am right which i might not be then newer valves need a vacume feed of some sort to vent when the throtel is lifted, this is the small tube you see entering the top of them?

I am confused now

There's two types of blow off valves. Re-circulating valve and a vent to atmosphere type. If you have a mass air measuring device you have to use re-circulating valve (otherwise air measuring don't get right measurings). Newer cars usually have air measuring device. So older Esprit's could fit atmosphere type of blow off valve :D

Wayne can help to correct right technical words :D
