Elite 1978 Rear Brake Pipe Layout

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a picture of the brake layout at the rear next to the diff. please? I have a single flexible to the cylinders with one bleed nipple. I want to change it to two flexibles and two bleed nipples. I am not sure where the tee piece goes and the hard pipe layout.
Thank you in advance

I dug out the brake pipes and put them under the chassis - I can't remember how the pipe gets from the off-side to the near-side, but the photo seems to be about right for how the pipes are still joined together (took them off 18/12 ago though):

Maybe the screw hole you can see at ~ 7-o'clock around the tunnel opening is where the main pipe came across from the off-side?  Or maybe I've got it upside down!?

Hi Geof,

If you look at the picture above at the righthand side, at the bottom of the chassis is a lip/channel.  On mine the front to back pipe was clipped on the inside edge along this lip.  When it reached the back it was then clipped from the right across to the left along the bottom edge of the tunnel  then into the tee piece.

The hole top right had my fuel line through it and the hole with the small one attached is for ease of fitting of the Handbrake cable

The picture below shows the outside.  A flexi out of each side to the drum/s then a bleed pipe to each leg of the final drive bleed nipple.

Hope that Helps

Hi Roland

Thank you for your help.  I notice that your drive shafts are painted black.  Is this how they left the factory please?

Regards

I don't know Geof.  When I got the car this is what they looked like

_DSC0138.JPG.a53e5e81afb56c6e3156f339e3168c5d.JPG.5d27ac817544da5965c46ac97c38004a.JPG  _DSC0137.JPG.2792ad25b264b2abff3c6d39342069fe.JPG.8d982d0e19e2fdcfc5b194c06c1f4512.JPG

The only paint I could see was on the nearside and that was a metallic green!  I just decided to paint them black.

However, having looked at the M50 Video I have managed to get this snapshot.

Looking at the rear suspension there is a black line from the brake drum and the hub.  So I guess they were black origionally after all.

Hi Roland

Would you mind taking a picture of the rear bleed pipe layout for me please?  I cannot quite see the route of the pipe.

Thank you in advance.
