Rear black vented boot cover thing

Recommended Posts

Don't really want to admit to this, but I cleaned the black vented thing (can't think of the name) covering the engine compartment (in the tailgate) of my car a few weeks ago...

... with bumper cleaner. :P

Wasn't intentional (picked up the wrong bottle)!

It almost seems like the plastic was originally white, sprayed black - and it's starting to look slightly white again in places!! :)

Anyone else done anything this stupid?! :blink : And am I right in thinking it's sprayed? If so, has anyone else resprayed theirs?

EEP!

They're called Louvres...

I have found Back to Black works quite nicely on them

I have had mine resprayed in black satin.

Many get them body coloured. I never liked the look of that in pictures but it actually looks very nice in person :P

it was originally a very wicked looking flat black. underneath it is albino-if it could grow hair twould be ginger. the part was never painted though, it was dyed. use any inexpensive upholstery dye, and you can black it again, and if you mess up, you can clean it off with isopropyl alcohol, and start over with a different brand of dye. i'll be making a mold of this part soon, and hence need to remove it. could someone who's done this run through the steps for me and warn me of any possible snags? thanks.

just paint the car all black! :P Seriously, I think it looks best body color when the bumpers are body color... and otherwise when the bumpers are otherwise
