Steering wheel spacer for lotus exige

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a lotus exige 350 and being 6ft tall I have head room but my knees touch the bottom of the steering wheel. I need the steering wheel to come a bit further out. Does anyone know of any wheel spacers options that work with the airbag steering wheel?

I did the spacers as detailed, I had to Dremel the top column cover slightly to get it to fit back on. Also the key barrel surround no longer fits. But I did gain 20-30mm height on the steering wheel Definitely try this before buying a spacer.

You're luckier than me though, I have no knee room or headroom!

The latest Fe exiges have a flat bottom steering wheel perhaps one like that would help

Cheers, is it a plug and play option or is any drilling required? Any change in bolts required, if so what size?

I ordered m8 x 40mm hex bolts,

M8 penny washers and some shim washers.

Think I got about 4 or 5mm thick of washers in there but wouldn't have got much more as there's a brass pin on some component of the steering column that starts getting close to the dials. This brass pin also stops the upper cowl going back on unless you take a Dremel to the plastic retaining hooks. Think the cowl is like 12 quid so I'll just buy another one to keep as a Spare.
