So if the spread between a ratty Elan and one in very good condition is between £4k and 'only' £15k, does it not reinforce the argument that they should be driven as if they were stolen and just throu

Well I have left a deposit on a blue M100. The car does need a few things doing, certainly a hood, a couple of small holes and the rear plastic screen is not clear. (Seem to remember that the soft top

  • I've never understood the sellers psyche around POA. You have something you want to sell but you don't want to tell people the price. WTF is that really all about? It makes me think that if I tur

Spotted that one it looks expensive when compared to others, including the S2 purple one.

And another new M100 thread is under way....

This white one was for sale privately for awhile, now in the trade.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202203043184129?radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=distance&postcode=ex66aq&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&make=Lotus&include-delivery-option=on&model=Elan&page=1

And non-UK car originally.

Justin

But very low mileage for its age. The fact that is an Australian RHD export version should make it cheaper/less desirable. The other S2 they have has a greater mileage but is an interesting colour.

Non-UK cars tend to achieve lower prices, always have, unless super-rare or historically significant. Partly because you cannot easily check low mileage, service history, repairs etc......it just spooks folk.

Even if the green one was an original UK car, I doubt it would be more than £25K but the market seems to be hardening. I'd be delighted if it sells.

When I bought mine early 2021 I felt I had paid a bit heavy but feeling it was quite ok at the end when I see the market.

almost bought an esprit at the time but had storage issue, that one may never come back to a price I like!

M100 definitely on the up, price wise. Rightly so, such fabulous vehicles.

White is a peach of a colour, M100 looks good in all shades.

Emira fever could be very positive for M100, as it is probably the closest Lotus got to a 'normal' car in the back catalogue.

If you missed the Esprit in terms of price, buy an Excel. So cheap, so classy and surely set for a tickle up.

Yeah, excel not making me salivate sorry… spent too much time on the Microsoft version maybe!

I keep telling people that the Elan M100 is probably the most under rated Lotus car ever. I suspect it has something to do with the purists want RWD over FWD?

In Lotus terms, and probably quite a few others if I think about it, the M100 is the biggest bang for $buck you can buy.

Get one now. See what you have been missing. It's better than money in the bank. And a helluva more exciting 😉

OMG, those wheels don't work.

The one that Steve Cropley had a few months ago, had similar wheels, they look a  bit like MG ZR/ZS 17" straights.

I didn't like the ones on the SC car either. I bet the offset is all wrong 😖

I've just checked the MOT history. As suspected, it has had some pretty uncaring owners in the past, particularly 2011/2012

I think they've thrown away most things in the engine bay to "add lightness"

As you say it looks a 'bit' tired, there's a hole where the bolt for the turbo cover is normally fixed, that looks a bit rusty. The car had a new timing belt at Howards lotus apparently.

comment_974299

Turbo heat shield missing, rocker cover missing, rubber seal (RHS) disintegrated, white spray paint all over air box, CAS cover, coolant pipe to expansion tank (wtf?), hole in engine/heat shield fix point...

What else?

PS What's the betting the wastegate is stuck too?
