What do you think is going on with the gear lever?

Just noticed this on Ebay and tempted to take a look, particularly as it's local to me.

I was too slow.  Ebay listing is ended as item is no longer available.

That was on eBay last January and would appear it sold ( log book issued 22/Feb/:21). Someone gave it a year then.....

Gear lever was in the wrong place even then, so suspect some non standard stuff under the lid.

This same dealer had another early wedge on their books a couple of months back. I tried to reach them on the phone number just for curiosity as like Andretti, I'm in Northampton, but they never got back to me.
