Hello!

 

The glass sunroof (targa?) broke on my 1984 Giugiaro Turbo Esprit. I did not find any for sale. Is there a solution for this?

Have you tried the usual lotus parts dealers - e.g. Lotusbits - they might have one? 

I did not dare yet, because after a quick search i came across one glass for the Stevens car at a horrorific price...

i hoped somebody makes a replacement for it, eg. GRP or carbon or something like that...

i saw a GRP roof panel at SJS, but i would have to cut the whole roof for that, which i do not want. (even if my Esprit is dismantled to its very last bits, all glasses out and before respray) we also did a carbon reinforcement on the windshield- and roof frame from the inside, which i do not want to cut..

if no such solution exists, i will have to make my own... which i probably will, when the car runs again, which may take a "little" more (it took 13yrs until now, but there is still hope i do not give up easily)

 

I am planning to make a carbon/grp copy of my glass roof in the future as well, can't take the risk of breaking the glass one without a replacement part...
