Driving In The Rain.

I dont think I saw any sort of gutter system on the 93.5 and higher that would channel water if it were to enter the 2 air vents on the rear decklid.

Theres some carpet surrounding the engine too. Does water ever soak into this carpet?

What happens when water enters those vents? Being made in britain, where it rains 8 days a week, it seems like there is probably some good protection against the rain. I just havnt seen it yet.

Yes..... you'd think so!

Why do you think the manifolds go so readily?!

Drive in the rain...??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yep!

I was part of a thirty car Esprit convoy on sunday, in the rain, on the motorway.

We are way hardcore B)

PS,

...While trying not to dump too many revs on her at each change,

and keeping the boost needle from waving too much, and looking out for large

puddles through a constantly misting windscreen thats being swept by a near to

useless wiper, etc etc

I really, really would not want to drive my Esprit every day, here are some reasons why:

it require a lot of concentration to drive

traffic is not much fun

people will get jealous, and may hurt it

can't imagine parking it at a theater or grocery story

driving it everyday makes it not so special

maintenance costs

speeding tickets

gas prices. I get maybe 16MPG

mileage/resale/keeping it looking good

insurance

and on and on.....

Its still worlds more refined than driving the mustang everyday. At least you have A/C, power steering, discs, power brakes, stereo, etc. And when I get on the gas, I get under 10mpg.

But yeah, the maintenance on the lotus would be worse, and i probably wouldnt want the mileage on it.

Who is your insurance with?

Progressive. I pay $3600/year and have 1 major speeding ticket (92 in a 55) and an accident.

Most will not insure a Lotus. I've heard Gieco will but when I called they said: "huh?"

Be sure to look into this before you take the plunge

Its incredible to see Jonathans car on its roof and even more so to see hes basiclly OK.. I was in Maidstone in Kent on Saturday picking up my car, then drove 350 miles back up to Durham in the pissing down rain it was horrible. These cars are no fun at all in the wet.
