i tore out the original lotus black woven mesh grille which was installed sloppily and twisted when new. i chose to replace it with a hexagonal pattern punched sheet of thin gauge aluminum sheet. before i glue it down i have to decide the final colour. should i paint it black, red, or leave it silver? thanks.

They all sound like they'd probably look ok, so best to go with the one that you get a kick out of most :)

black. blends in with the rest of the trim

then again after all the effort it would suck to not have it be so visible anyway:D

silver paint is too changing rooms for my taste.  i'll probably wait until i have enough small pieces and bring it all to the electroplatist.

Hop over to a motorcycle dealer, look for a can of PJ1 paint. It is called "SUZUKI GRAY 1993-2000 EPOXY PAINT"

It is a dark gray metallic engine case paint. Goes with everything, anywhere.
