Dang difficult to get to.

You'll have to hop into the rear boot and stick your head down the right hand side of the engine and look under the top of the engine. This is the only way as you can't see it from under neath the car. I managed to get my multiangled arm under and remove the two connections. I would hat to have to actually replace the sender - that would take some doing. I'll try and get some photos today.

If you just want to get a look at the sender, I stood at the side of the car with a mirror. From here you'll be able to see it - but not reach it. :)

Simon,

Thanks for all the help on this. I found the sending unit and there is a yellow/black wire with a plug in that is loose. I have looked where it might plug in but I cannot see anything. The wire is about 8 inches long.

Thanks again

This yellow black wire should be connected to the Oil Temp Sensor, which is right next to the Oil pressure sensor. Realistically should be no more than an inch or two from the pressure sender.

The other end does end up going direct to the oil temp gauge (through - looks like - 3 connections). I'll have to investigate further. :)

For the oem sending unit, there should be 2 places to connect wires. One is for the actual gauge itself and one is for the idiot light. I dont remember which color goes to which but the shop manual indicates it. I ordered a replacment from vdo and it only has the connection for the gauge. Its possible yours in not the oem and only has one connection. It wont hurt anything and I actually liked it better because my idiot light would flash sometimes during warmed up idling. The reason being not abnormally low oil pressure (I checked it with another more modern gauge and sender) but the lack of precesion of the oem gauge/sender and the difference in using modern synthetic oil. Hope this helps.

Have been unable to chase the Yellow / Black wire on my car. From the sensor it goes straight into the same loom as the other two sensor wires - and then just disappears somewhere... :) Not much use, sorry.
