Removing bolt from rear hub carrier

I've stripped down the rest of the chassis over the last couple of evening ready to send the chasis of to be sand blasted. On both of the rear hub cariers the lower link bolt is stuck fast. Anyone got any tips for removing them.

I managed to get both of the bolts/stud out of each hub in the end. Here's how I managed it.

Sprayed huge quantities of WD40 on it for about a week.

Put three nuts on the bolt/stud, and then tryed to get the bolt to spin in the hub - result nothing......nada....zip...... balls all!

Found a bit of tubing and a bucket load of washer and put them on one end of the bolt/stud put a nut on the end clamped the hub in a vise and using a ratchet did the nut up, result ......nothing......nada....zip...... balls all!

Using a gas gun I heated the hub up to try and release the bolt/stud.

Tryed the ratchet agian....result ......nothing......nada....zip...... balls all!

Ok getting desperate now.

Used an air impact gun on the nut result .............. movement..... woohoo. It was slow and I had to keep removing the nut to put more washers on bu in the end the bolt/stud came out.

Ok lovely job I thought now for the other side.

Heat, washers, tubing, impact gun result ...........nothing......nada....zip...... balls all! Oh apart from ripping the thread of the bolt/stud.

Ok thats it I thought I got my hacksaw out cut the bolt of either side of the hub (well actually cut it 4 times) and pulled the lower arm free. Put the hub the vise again and drilled the centre of the bolt/stud out increasing the size of the drill bit each time being careful nut to catch the hub. Then using a drift and a hammer gave it moderate smack and out it came. Repeated that for the other section on the hub and all was done.

Job done on to the next bit :angry:

Oh but a press may be a better route :rolleyes:
