ChargeHEATER ?

Recommended Posts

I took Bumble for a gentle run today and did the test on the chargecooler at the end of a straight road with plenty of air thro the rads I stopped and whipped up the hatch...Chargecooler anything but.

I guess that its time to replace the impeller.

Question,

Can this job be accomplished on axle stands and are there any tricks that I should try before dismantling everything?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Mike 40 :)

Dont know about the impellor but there os a guide on Andy Whittaker's site to replacing the mechanical pump with an electric one. I don't knwo if this may have any useful advice?

Anything on LEW?

How many miles is your car? iirc the impellor tends to last *about* 25k give or take?

Yeah, Fish,

Bumble has covered around 23.5K.

I may consider the electric pump

IF there is any room to fit it!!

Hi Mike

Replacing the impellor *can* be done from above if you remove the airbox and have double jointed wrists.

I actually opted for the electric pump option (thanks to Dermot for providing me with his old one). There is, in fact, plenty of room for it in front of the rear fuse/relay box, between the chargecooler filler and the chargecooler itself (as per Andy Whittaker's pictures). It also makes it easy to get an ignition live feed from the fuse box.

Whichever option you choose, I would recommend working on it from above to save getting a headrush and crap falling into your eyes :)
