Lotus Engineering on the latest GTR!!

just read this news with spyphoto in a local magazine.

the 2007 Nissan GTR is under testing in Nurburgring, Germany now!

after reviewing the latest body design, I am sure everyone is exciting about this new Japanese sports car.

but what really catches my eyes is when it mentions the chasis, suspension & handling to be done with the help from LOTUS!!!

so in 2007, there will be actually 2 LOTUS cars in the market

the new NISSAN GTR (project R35)

**remarks: GTR will be an independent model in the NISSAN car lineup. it's no longer part of the SKYLINE group. It will be just "GTR"!!

and the new 2007 LOTUS ESRPIT..

I guess if you want 2 passengers car, you can buy the ESPRIT

and if you want to carry 4 adults, you can buy the GTR

anyone will consider the GTR now??

Cool, but you know it won't be the only Lotus engineered car on the market. I understand they are subcontracted to do engineering of plenty of cars, but I think it is usually kept confidential. I'm certain they had a hand in the new Astons, what with the Ali chassis. Have they ever worked for Porsche?

...and most of the Vauxhall range (almost certainly all the VXR range)

but then after the VX220, that comes as no real surprise :)

The also did the suspension work on the MA60 series Toyota Supras - which strangely enough has exactly the same brakes as the Esprits :(

Autocar magazine this week in Chris Harris's column, page 53:

"Over 15% of all new cars sold in Europe have benefited from the Lotus touch in some way.  No wonder cars are getting better."

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Before the Elise, income from this kept Lotus solvent.
