Even because the car is a normally aspirated its not as cheap to run as a fair

lady, the engine components, body parts still wear and cost money!

the damage may just be superfical but remember even if your doing

the work yourself it still costs money!

It is odd that the pics are blurry to be honest. That firm specialise in salvage cars by the looks, you would expect them to be able to take a clear picture, and close ups too...

Perhaps that's done on purpose - like to hide what looks like a shabby interior (I'm sure the leather is all cracked on the drivers seat base and arm rest but hard to tell??)

Even at

MK1 Volkswagen Golf Owners Club Well, had to get this one in if anyones interested?!

We were talking about this car a week or so ago. Here's the thread:

I'd give it a miss. For the money it'll cost to fix, you could could get a sorted one. Davin's just sold his SE, he was asking

IMPOSSIBLE to tell from any photos.

Seen a few Esprit pictures that look drop dead, when I've seen the car I nearly have dropped dead in shock....most are not as good as the camera makes out. Scuff on the rear spoiler by the looks of things (what on earth hit it, a bus ?)

Off set shunt to the rear by all accounts - if that were me I'd like to give the underside a good looking over and definatly see what ripples this has had over the rest of the GRP. Chassis should be fine, exhaust would have taken a knock and so the exhuast brackets will be damaged (hopefully not the gear translators and the gearbox)

Would like to see the accident report (if any) and the estimate for damage repair (if any). With a red car you might also be looking at a total re-spray to match the paint....Red cars go faster (its true) but they fade (the light that burns twice as bright...blahblah) so consider that.

Guest esprit geoff

I think you would be mad to buy it, you would need to have it totally assessed by a Lotus specialist to find out what the real damage is. Find a good one and pay the right money!!!

By the way - my SE up for sale on Pistonheads and shortly will be on Lotus Esprit World for

i dread the day a tubo goes on any car i own with them on.

Don't ph34r the turbo - If you look after them they're fine, might get a chuff of smoke out the back and thats about it. Had 2 turbos go on my cars I've had in the past - one was a cracked turbine housing and the other the bearings collapsed, just chopped and changed the parts and away you go. They are performance parts but durable (if looked after) - there's no air of magic around them.

Worst thing is when the compressor breaks up :)
