Red S4 on ebay!

Does anyone know the red 1994 S4 for sale on ebay?, heres the link ;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...mMakeTrack=true

It looks alright but I keep remembering the adage (from Paul C I think) 'Theres nothing more expensive than a cheap Esprit'! .....how very true.

I'd be grateful for anyone who has any info on this car as I've sent a message to the owner with a view to checking it out this weekend.

thanks

Taro

Thanks Paul...

I cant understand why he wants to sell it just a week after buying it. Apart from the ABS warning light coming on intermittently I'm informed there isnt anything elso wrong with it. I'm expecting a phone call today.

I'll let you know how it goes.

You really need to get a visual on it.

It might look nice and shiney from the pics but:

tbh.... It MAY be a nice car (you never know) but at that price it really is no bargain so dont feel too bad if you don't get it. I would say it is a fair price for a car with a few niggles. I can't echo Simon's point about the MOT enough!

He has worded the auction well, to give the impression its a steal but don't forget that an S4 is 95% identical to an SE barring 1) minor cosmetic modifications to the bumpers and sills 2) Some updates to the suspension (which Im told are very worthwhile) For that money you would be looking at nice SE's too. There's also the fact that someone else may bid too so that my well not be the actual selling price.

PLUS the obligatory

I saw this and have marked it on my watch list the other day. The owner says he's only had it a week. I think it sounds like a dog and he's just found out. Who sells a car after only a week? He had to spend a fair bit on it in a week. Maybe he's found a load of other work and has just patched it up.

If it's a geuine sale (which is very rare on Ebay) then looks like a good car.

Any money that S300 is gone already!! If not - *definitely* before the end of the week!

I think S300 are well over priced! You can get a S350 for the same price. I know which one I'd have...

I didn't realise they were still selling them in 96?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's number 64. they only made 64, so it's probably the last of the '95 cars

(they made 8 that year), and was registered early '96 i'd guess. ;)

I want it.

The fact i can't afford it is something i'll have to get over

PS, Taro, did you go see the S4 then?

Hi Paul,

I made an appointment to see it tonight. I've had a couple of conversations with the owner who sounds like a decent chap. I've been calling around insurers all day including Classic Line etc.......CL refuse to insure me as they insist I have at least one year owenership of a 'similar' performance vehicle. I quoted limited mileage (3000 miles a year), garaged at night etc.....My present insurers, Direct Line wont even give me a look in as I dont have any NCB. (I lost it as I was abroad for more than 2 years).....I told them I'm not a spotty 19 year old student but a middle aged square holding down a responsible job who's not likely to go tearing around the country in it (honest guv) . Quoting membership of the advanced drivers institution didnt help either.

I was a bit peeved to say the least.

I reckon Footman James may be your best bet, like me..... Stick with them for a year or two and then when you can, migrate across to Classicline which is what I hope to do next year....

Yeah - I did that route - Footman James first, for twelve months (around 450) and then swapped to CL (198).

I reckon the cars going to look pretty 'Used', as its done 68k, so its already had a pretty good life. The carpets and leather will be a bit tatty. Lots of stone chips, heavily scratched sills. I remember looking at a couple of circa 65k S4 cars and the were all a bit too second hand for me. Spent a wee bit extra and got a much lower mileage car. Don't worry too much about the scratched sills, just throw a couple of those shiney stainless steel sills on and hey presto. They do a real good job of hiding P.O.s lack of care.

Looking forward to the results of your viewing.

Ah - The secrets finally out.

It's Toby's old car, which he only had for about a year and traded in a couple of weeks back.

Thats mad!, CL added Vicki as a named driver on my SE Turbo, at the time she had been driving only eighteen months and had never driven anything bigger than a 1.1 litre 56bhp hatchback. Despite this information, cost an extra

We're at 'T minus 5 hours' and still no bids.

Well, if it's got no major hassles, I reckon
