Rolling Road Results for my S4s

Been to a rolling road today to have my car dyno'd. Very interesting results. This was taken place at Peco Headquarters in Birkenhead. It was touch and go as to whether I could make it. Earlier in the week a local custom exhaust company totally cocked up my new twin exit system and broke my CAT at the same time. I got them to put my old system back on with busted CAT. PNM and Alan Croft came to the rescue. PNM made me up a DeCAT pipe to replace my broken CAT this morning just in time for the run.

The results were 283.7 BHP at the wheels and 333 BHP at the flywheel.

The only mods I have done to the engine is a performace filter from PNM and their decat pipe.

I also had a print out. Iam more than pleased with the results as anyone would be.

SO a big thanks to Alan Croft. Without his helps today, I wouldn't have been able to do it!!

To bloody right you should be happy ;)

I had my on a rolling road today ...................... well it was rolling down the hill because I didn't put a brick under the chasis when I pulled the body out the workshop to clean it. The only figures I got was abou 185 ................. beats per minuit as I sprinted after it. :D

Soyou got 283bhp with your stock exhust (minus cat) I'd be interested what you get with your new system on.

I was at PNM when you rang yesterday, everything alright?

Iam not expecting any more horse with a new system, the CAT makes the main difference.

Just getting a bit fustrated trying to find a few parts.

I don't need the screen trim now but I like to keep an eye on the whole project, and have things in hand when I need them. Apparently there is no screen trim out there to be had, and I need both front and back. I also need a new/secondhand front bumper mine is the plastic sort and because my paint is a metalic pearlecent the plastasiser needed to be added will change the colour very slightly.

I am very pleased with the progress however I painted the underside, boot, and engine compartment today with Gravitex which has hidden a lot of the fibreglass texture.

I hope to start spraying primer tomorrow, but a have to tank out the room with plastic sheeting and mask it all up. So it may be Monday before I can hit it with some paint. I just can't wait to see it in one colour.

I want the car ready for the summer and would love to take it to Le Mans which is my initial deadline. But it may be a bit of a stretch, so I will work towards that date but if it takes longer it takes longer.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your cars at Donnington.

Dave, I hope that they didn't scratch those lovely wheels! how are they holding out with all the salt?

Gr8 figures m8

How did they keep her cool?

Troy, I had the same prob with my screen trims

For the front I bought 2 x lhs and 2 x rhs pieces.

Use the extra from each side to make up the centre. In the correct order you don't need to adjust the mitred corners just the overall length. I used a hacksaw and finished by using a belt linisher to get the 90 degree nice and straight. You end up with a line in the chrome trim that is there, but hardly noticable.

The same can be done with the rear, again all mitres are fine and don't need changing.

Only problem is the cost (about

Thanks for the pics Glyn looks like the way to go.

Dave

I was looking at your dyno chart, How comes there is a spike at about 3000rpm and then it drops of. Did they explain this at the dyno centre. I was just curious. At 33bhp over the stock figures with similar gains in figures being shown with people who dyno their V8 it makes you wonder why Lotus released such conservative figures.

Troy, I have done a few simple mods like the ram air etc. The drop off at 3K is the notorious 3K stumble which is a pain. I will add a chip soon just to get rid of this. No more power just yet until I know what's happening with the fuelling. I couldn't get a freescan read out because it was bust that day. Other people only got one run whereas I got three! I don't supposed they would be too happy if I then wanted to set up freescan as well.
