very hard clutch pedal

Hi folks just started to get my esprit out after the winter and ready for MOT and found the clutch pedal very hard to push down and then have to wait for it to rise again but appears to be working apart from this.

Have had the WD40 around several areas but to know joy.

Has anyone got any suggestion as to where the problem might be???

The car has a braided hose fitted and has silicone fluid in the system.

Could be the splines, which are impossible to get to with the gearbox on, but should work themselves free after several movements of the friction plate.

I recon your slave piston has rusted due to standing/using silicone. Clutch splines play no part in the feel/performance of depressing the clutch pedal.

Is it possible to change the silicone fluid back to dot 4??

Would I have to just drain the system and replace or would it be best to flush with normal fluid ?? or is it not possible ??

Wouldn't recommend swapping fluids without changing seals.

You may find you need to replace all the rubbers, or at least strip the system and clean them all.
