Nylon tie wraps for rubber steering rack gaiters?

I'm refurbishing the steering rack on my S1 and I'm having a hard time finding hose clamps narrow enough to fit in the recess of the rubber boot. Since the S1 rack uses 90 weight oil instead of grease, I'm wondering if a high strength nylon tie wrap will be strong enough to lock down the rubber boots and prevent leaks. I can't use the old clamps because I destroyed them at the time they were removed.

cable ties should be fine. i sometime use them on cv joint boots and they always work fine

cable ties should work, also, if you have a harbor freight locally, they generally have the metal tie wraps also.

Yes, I have and do use cable ties, on my rack right now, never had a problem. I saw a proffessional use them years ago and have used them ever since.

most use the good quality nylon ties now. on the same subject, please could someone confirm what type grease or oil should be on the inside of my Excel gaiters please? just doing mine and cant remember what i used last time. (getting old see). Lotus manual refers to stuff ive never heard of. regards. DC.

Cut the spare tie off cleanly with a knife not side cutters as I had an outboard front cv gater get punctured by the sharp point left by side cutters.
