SJ Sportcars 'Super Sport exhaust'

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Whilst looking for parts to get my car back on the road I came across SJ Sportscars, they had something called a super sport exhaust for what seams a very reasonable £350+vat.

Has anyone had any experience with this exhaust?

Current quote for a larini is £1000 so a big difference

I attach a picture, at this price I may be tempted to be the guinea pig

Hi Steve,

I can't vouch for the SJ system but looking at the pictures, the pipework looks a little small? There's a stepped collar to the Cat end which suggests it's only 2" perhaps. It's worth asking the question if you are going to buy it.

Why do you need an exhaust backbox?

Have you seen the little stubby pipes you can buy to goes on ends of Cats? Christopher Neil do them for £110+VAT. I may have a go at doing them in the future.

Also if you are after a cheap backbox then ask the question on here, someone may have a used one for £50-100 for a standard one or £75-150 for a sports one. That's pretty much the going rate.

Sorry Bibs,

I didn't realise that you did these pipes. You beat me to a reply. I was in middle of typing also looking at different website for Steve.

sorry

I'm looking at the SJ muffler too. Has anyone tried it yet? Hows the sound?

The Quicksilver bits look ok (and weight saving) but I'd like something that gets through an MOT/TÜV without having to swap back to stock for the day.

I have the tail pipes like those available from TLF and no issues at the MOT. Only issue for me is getting the car on track re noise. Having said that, I've not actually tried but my guess is it would fail.

Trevor

I'll get around to it at some point.

Charly, you can have my box 'for the day' ..you know that with this 'special creation' you will pass any noise inspections around the world

:harhar:

..if you need it loud, I can experiment & weld you something up, out of an old rotten stock-box

The pipes are the right diameter and are swaged to mate the collar on the cat so no mods required. Was a very easy fit I did one for a customer who bought an sj sports one and I liked the noise . Louder than the original at idle but not by much get the revs up and it really did sound like a pi**ed off wild cat. Just my opinion though.
