It's currently at GST Performance who found it needs:

> new exhaust manifold

> new rear discs

> belts

> loads of replacement pipes, plugs, seals, oil, filters etc

It's an engine out job but it mean they can clean up the bay and engine itself too

Can't wait to get it back!!

better pics to follow!

At least it's with one of if not the best place for the work, looks to be in nice condition, that combined with the need to change belts hints that it's not been used much recently.

A canny observation! yep - I despaired when I found it in the snow like that but that was just the sale position the trader put it in - it had been hardly used for 3 years, stored properly and with 59,000 on the clock. not bad, considering!

Always have admired the black and gold G turbo's, thats a great looking car even with the snow on it, well done.

:)

I don't deserve a black car ever as i don't ever polish...

Lovely looking car! Gerald Turner did a "C" service on my S4S earlier this year and it really did make a BIG difference to the car's performance and handling. You won't be disappointed by the work they carry out on the car.rolleyes.gif

Though this be madness yet there is method in it ( Polonius in William Shakespeare's Hamlet)

That's a very clean looking car. The interior is super.

LOL I see you used a pole to hold the boot open. I have an old broom handle for that

It's getting there......

Beautiful!!!!

I remember drooling over the exact same style at Earls Court a long time ago. Glad another one has found a good home. Enjoy!

Heaven is where the police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, the lovers French and it is all organized by the Swiss. Hell is where the police are German, the chefs British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss and it is all organized by the Italians.

You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot

You think professional is expensive, just wait until you pay for amateur.

Very nice - congratulations. I also took a couple of years to find my car... similar to yours.

Good luck with getting it fixed up!

I know! I can't wait to get her out on the road...

Restoration continues:

Turbo Esprit

I hoping it'll be ready for the Lotus Festival (see you all there) on the 20th and for enough of a shakedown before our tour down to Le Mans Classic and a italian alps drive in july!

Fantastic looking car. Great to see G cars in great order!! Just to be the most perdantic....I think there are a couple of things in the blurb on flickr that are not quite right? Unless you got a later HC engine you should have Twin Dellorto DHLA 40 carburettors not the 45 and 210BHP. I only know as I rebuilt my carbs a little while back.

All the best Buddsy unworthy.gif

Thank you! I thought I C&P'd it from from a club entry on model details, must be mistaken...amended now...

As my first Esprit, and Classic, that really doesn't feel pedantic - if not here, where?? I or another could have replaced one with the wrong part had you not mentioned! Flickr amended..

Still at GST?

Say hello to the silver S2.2 when you are there

OK, will do! thumbup.gif

Great looking car.

Gerald is THE man to bring it back to life - Did my Essex after it had been sat for years and years.

Congratulations

Totally, totally agree.

Gerald is my 'new best friend'! On arriving *after closing* on a Saturday (got a bit lost/delayed) he proceeded to keep the rest of his life on hold and go through the whole car, move the engine around on the gantry for 'tourist pics', show and review every last aspect of the car and work needed: in all honesty, weighing up a view of preventative measures and also perfecting my car to an original-like spec.

It's exactly the kind of service and confidence in quality I need to really drive the car - across touring distances and find it's limits on track ( likely find my own skill limits before that, lol )

Sound like plug? Don't care - I think from the experience so far GST are, like Bazaa says, THE people for Esprits in the UK?

Looks great! Is that at Barry Ely's by any chance?

Sounds like GST might be the place for me to get my car back to life too then....
