What's the modern equivalent of Wellseal?

As the title says really... is there a better alternative to the Wellseal gasket compound mentioned in the workshop manual or is that the stuff to use?

That's good enough for me. I just didn't want to buy it and then have people tell me it's 40 year old technology and I should have used product 'X' instead because it's 1000 times better.

I use it as directed on the 907, and it works. :)
