Evora Sales?

Recommended Posts

Just curious here, does anyone have any idea how's the Evora's doing in terms of sales targets/predictions? Did they sell all the 'launch models' before turning their attentions to customer spec orders?

I have to say I loved the car when I first saw it, I went a little luke warm when I rolled into my local dealers and saw one, but now I'm beginning to think seriously about the Evora again, so for it's growing on me, ( which is odd as I've still never seen one on the road! )

According to figures released by the Dept of Transport recently the number of Evoras registered in the UK at the end of 2010 was 299. 256 of these were licensed (on the road) and 43 were SORNed.

Of the 256 licensed, 13 were Evora S models.

All makes and models can be tracked through the data available as spreadsheets.

VEH0120.xls shows licensed numbers (on road) and VEH0121.xls shows SORN vehicles.

There are lots in dealers which have been registered making them look like sales but these appear to be slow sellers. I think this i sdown to price as there is stiff competition from established models from other manufacturers. I too would love to have one but not at these prices. Would be great if Lotus rebranded the cars through Caterham and marketed them with a lower price tag allowing Lotus to concentrate on the new branding of their upmarket aims.

I'll get around to it at some point.

They cost what they cost. Drive one and you'll see they're worth it too.

There's more chance of Gadaffi handing over the keys to his palace than Lotus and Caterham ever cooperating too!

I think all the launch spec cars have gone but saying that some dealers still have their original demo car which so long after the cars release I find a bit surprising.

I know of a car that's been sitting in the dealers for a very long time, I think it was their second demo car and they sold the first one within a few months of the launch...

I like the car and I'm very tempted but I'm also very concerned about residuals. I know that shouldn't be an issue but the Evora's not a strong seller and how long before the upgrade car arrives with better build quality, updated dash etc? I'm sure I read somewhere about the possibility of a 150 point upgrade on it's way but I can't seem to find the details now.

Despite all this I do really like the car, plus I've pretty more explored the only options I was interested in at that price and I just keep coming back to the Evora... although in reality the issues I've mentioned aren't going to go away.

I have driven one and the N/A is underpowered for the money but probably the best drive in its class. Was up at Lotus Silverstone yesterday trying to tempt myself again but the Chrome Orange S they have in the showroom is £70K!. The Evora's on the forecourt at the same ones they had there three or four months ago which tells me they are overpriced.

Here in the States a quick search of fleebay or one of the other car sites always brings up a healthy selection cars for sale. Many 2010 models with delivery miles and 'best offer' highlighted. . I'm not really sure the Evora has been that successful here. I travel the country from coast to coast by road all the time and I've only ever seen one. The weak dollar means it's more than a bit on the pricey side. It got excellent press here so that should of helped move a few.
