Where to buy binnacle replacement panels for an s2?

vintaylor

Question

Hi there,

Would anyone know of a place selling replacement instrument panels for the s2. Both my switch panel and heater panel are starting to rust from underneath and my main dial switch surround in the centre of the binnacle has several cracks and bits snapped off.:ice:

Also would anyone if its possible to buy replacement VIN number panels for both the dashboard and the front boot?

Cheers,Vin

Hi Vin,

It would be easy to copy the metal templates. You're bound to have a fabrictors near you. I'm currently working on making a mould for the centre section so I can make a fibreglass copy. I'll let you know how I get on. They are next to impossible to get hold of. Mine broke and I made a replacement out of sheet aluminium which is doing the job at the moment.

Do they replicate all the panels though? cause i think they only do the switch panel.

I can try look around for a possible fabricator. The only problem is the panels don't have decals on them, it seems like the details

have been painted on.

By any chance pete, im looking for a set of s2 sills. Would you know anyone that might have a set or be able to make a copy?

I've contacted lotus bits several times, they tell me they have the part in stock , but wont send me a price.

I've been trying to get a reply for the past 2 weeks. It seems odd to me how people aren't interested in selling parts to customers.

Thanks guys.

I didn't realise that the S1 and S2 panels were different! Are the sills different between S1 and S2 because Chris Fillipidis (spelling?) was breaking an S1 ask him if he's willing to sell the sills.

I know this is an old thread, but still relevant. I had the S2 instrument panel drawn up so that it can be 3-D printed. I had one made, but haven't installed it yet (WAY too many other projects preventing this from happening). Go to Shapeways.com and search for Lotus esprit instrument panel. It's about $50, but price may fall as 3D printing becomes cheaper.
