Imprint button

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I need help about a problem I've got with the "Imprint" button of the Alpine display.

When I press it, all that happens is a "beep", but no Imprint menu as it should appear. I just have access to a limited menu with Bass, Treble, Balance and Defeat Mode...

My car is a launch edition, I was about to call my dealer, but before I do that, perhaps someone here can help?

Thanks a lot.

Lionel

Not sure that you will get a lot more!. I will check it out tomorrow what comes up as I also have a LE car but from memory all I have is a choice of curve 1 or curve 2. I cannot tell the difference or even if the damn thing is switched on or not. Worst £1,500 or whatever it was I have EVER spent - even if I had no choice. Maybe mine isn't working either of course!!

Firsty, the car has to be stationary in order to use imprint set up.

The 'defeat' button is key - cannot remember whether it needs to be on or off, but this is essentially the override button that turns the imprint systen on.

Check manual to see if it must be on or off.

I also then have curve 1 or curve 2 as per Als post.

I can just about make out a difference between the 2, but try a cd rather than ipod as the quality seems a bit better.

The manual is your best bet - dealers don't seem to know too much about it.

But agree with Al that overall sound quality is average at best and not up to the money.

Give me Bose anyday!

Thanks a lot I'll check this out. For now I didn't even have access to the menu with "curve1" and "curve2", and that's what worries me.

About the sound quality, I think it's not so bad after a few adjustments, but indeed you can't compare it to a B&O equipped A5...

Picked up my 2010 Evora a couple of weeks ago (Still grinning every time I get in it) However, despite it being a Tech pack car, the Imprint module is not present (Confirmed by Lotus Service).

Is it worth me spending out on getting a unit and paying for it to be installed? Does it dramatically improve the audio quality? Apart from displaying some fancy curve on the screen, what else would I be buying?

Associated question, what difference does the subwoofer make to your listening pleasure, mine seems to be minimal at best, which is probably to do with a missing audio component!

I retrofitted the imprint module to my S, which was a sizeable job involving removing the complete dash top to fit an interface to the navi module to avoid losing the sat nav voice commands.

I can't speak for the factory fitted imprint curves, but after carrying out the setup with the sound manager software/mic, it made a huge difference to the sound quality and is very noticeable when I switch it on/off.

My cars have had, and haven't had, Imprint and I honestly can't tell you if I'd ever noticed the difference. I seem to remember from distant past that if Imprint was on, then other features like Loud were disabled and I preferred the Loud option.

It certainly didn't do what it was supposed to do about shape the sound to the space from a very old post maybe even before we got the LE cars that somebody posted about the actual Imprint system licence.

Maybe the answer is to purchase the sound manager software and microphone and recalibrate it for cars with the factory imprint module?

I can only speak from personal experience and it has quite noticeable effect in my car.
