V8 Esprit Front License Plate?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a 1999 V8 Esprit, and I live in California. Apparently, I need a front lic plate to be on the car. My front esprit bumper is rounded and there are no holes or brackets for a plate. I really do not want to drill holes or anything.

Any ideas on how I can easily mount my front license plate without any damage to the cars body?

thanks, Matt

My "02 included a couple of holes on the underside of the bumper for a backet. Perhaps you have something similar. Otherwise, I'm not positive as to how to install a bracket without drilling some sort of fastener.

the original (or at least European ?!) bumbers have an black [and primitive] plastic bracket under the roundet section. It sits in the radiator intake, and therefore an sidenote is in the *pre-delivery inspection* workshop-book pages that you have to mount the licence plate in any case as high as possible -othervise the plate will limit the flow into the radiator opening. So the ilustration shows the plate mounted with the lower edge just on the same level as the lower edge of the plastic bracet.

but bith the US-plate size/format this would look 'rubbish' ?!

Like others have said it's under the bumper, and there's a plastic holder that screws into these holes into which you screw the plate in. It may be in the parts guide. or ca

The USA models have a front licence plinth. It is in the parts manual. One of the pieces destroyed on my car that the dealer forgot to order.

A082B5188J is the plinth

the associate hardware two of each is

A075W5684F M5 x 20 screw plinth to bumper

A075W4015Z Washer, flat plinth to bumper

A076W3043F M5 Jacknut plinth to bumper

A075W3031F M6 Jacknut front licence plate fixing

sidenote: is it legal to use 'addhesive' plates within the US ?!

Think it would look far more interesting. But on the other hand, none needs to buy the plint and nuts ...as this simple construction can be done in *DIY* -ways. Just made out of a piece of angled aluminum plate. You can mount the licence plate on that and the aluminium-bracket/plate mounting is hidden under the underside of the round section on the bumper.

Lucas, you could call your choosen plate system *temperature regulation system* if the police stopps you thumbsup.gif ..plate down on overheating situations, and it goes up if the temperature in the radiator gets to cold. Just like in the old times of motoriung....

That's the idea! You can control it from a remote.
