S2 Steering Rack

Hello all

My S2 steering rack has play in it, can it be repaired or is it best to buy recon or new? How much of a job is it to repair?

Have a look at Vulcangrey's site (aka Travis), he recently posted a link to it in one of his posts. It's the best tutorial on rack refurbishment I've seen. His kit came from JAE I think, not sure of your location so there may be a supplier closer. If you're in the UK, have a word with Internets (aka Chris) as he may know somebody who can do it at a vey reasonable cost, or most of the Esprit / Lotus specialists have a refurbishment service.

Also check that the steering column UJs aren't worn. If so they'll feel like play in the rack when the rack maybe fine.
