Door jamb light switch - removal / replacement?

Hi all,

A little niggle I am attempting to sort - when opening the passenger door on the Esprit, the interior light (normally) comes on - it doesn't with the driver's side

Any ideas on how to remove it? I can feel the wiring leading to the switch by pushing my hand under up under the dash - but I can't seem to find how to remove the switch? - does it have a collar to remove on the outside first? or can you just push it from within? Maybe it unscrews?

Also any ideas on where to get replacements from if cleaning it up doesn't work - they look different from the switches you normally get which do this (no surprise there)..?

Thanks

Henry

There's a thin nut on the back of the switch which you have to unscrew, then it pulls out forwards. At least that's what mine do.

No idea on replacements but my drivers side door has stopped working. I tested the switch which is fine so am guessing it's the wiring to the light that's at fault. The light can be switched on manually so I know the bulb's fine..

The passenger side on mine was not working- traced to the switch. It is possible to carefully dismantle and clean the contacts up, it hides behind the dash so no-one can see if it's been glued back together!

Managed to fix this - electrical contact cleaner and seems to work now - my switches have an inner collar and an outer slim metal one - using my incredible triple jointed arms I managed to reach the back of the switch and unscrew it / clean it up - now seems to work. Feel enormously satisfied that I managed to improve my car - only slightly let down by snapping off the mirror control joy stick.... need a whole new joystick mechanism actually as it appears to have been glued in one place anyway... any ideas?
