Central locking gone...

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Hum.. today I had another defect no one has ever had on an evora (says my dealer). I tried to activate the automatic locking of the car (when it runs above 15 kph). I followed the manual, it beeing on my lap while doing it. After that procedure, my central locking was gone, I couldn't close or open the car whith an "electric tool": the key or the button on the console, and this includes... the boot.

Does anyone know about that problem? My dealer is investigating but I fear this would take some time.

Again thank you very much!

P.S.: I couldn't find any topic about this kind of defect but perhaps I missed it. If you know of one please tell me :-)

Congratulations! A new defect! thumbdown.gif

I am afraid that you seem to have a new defect here. Never have read or head about this one since the very first cars. Mind you have also never heard of anybody trying to activate the locking either so maybe we al will have the problem if we tried!!

Good luck!

I managed to activate the Dynamic (drive away) Locking on my car and so far no problems.

No probs here I activated the drive away locking day one and all good. The problem I had was with the locking motors/ solenoid or whatever which since replacement has been fine. Minor annoyance tho that it takes 2presses of the dash button to unlock doors with no manual override when you pull the interior handle.

Thanks for the feedback, still no news from my dealer.

I've also realized yesterday that I couldn't open my glovebox, so no central locking, no electric boot opening, and no possibility to open the glovebox.

Starts to be very annoying...

Joe

I also find it annoying that there is no override on the central locking when you pull the door handle. And why 2 pushes of the button to open the car. I am thinking of reverting back to leaving the doors unlocked when driving.

I have never figured out why I'd ever want the doors locked when driving. First thing I had deactivated on my previous cars by dealers wasautolock function. Okay I live in a relatively safe and quiet area for car crime and I'm not worried about being raped. Now that would be adventurous in the back seat of an Evora! :welcome: If you slow down in an area where uncomforatble - and I have experienced that in the States a few times when lost and out of my comfort zone - then lock them then.

My thoughts are as a Motorsport Marshal for 35 years I have attended many more wrecks of saloon cars than most ever will. My main area of sport is the driver (+ navigator in Rallies) extraction particularly. I know how damn hard it is to get in sometimes through cars looking relatively undamaged and upright and they don't even have central locking fitted. We practice destroying cars of all types in scrap yards in winter every year to keep ourselves fresh. Now I know that every manufaturer will tell you that they have auto unlock and auto senor for this and that, but do you really believe them? I want to be rescued from my wreck, hopefully quickly, by somebody that doesn't need to have a van full of specialist cutting equipment and believe me most fire brigades don't unless on specialist units.

Heh, we can hardly get in and out of the Evora normally with its central locking system new and working upright on a nice warm sunny day. Do you trust it to work upside down in a field or when wrapped round a tree in middle of the night and in winter? I don't.:D

Problem solved!

After a few settings and the replacement of a fusible, all is fine.

After reading your post, Al., I think I'm not gonna use this "drive away locking" again.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your feedback.

I will now try to get a rim replaced, as the garage damaged it yesterday :dizzy::shuriken::thumbsup:
